Shades of Gray
She’s
been alone all her life, but she’s never really been
alone.
But she’s alone even when she’s not. And loneliness is colored
gray, because everything has a color to her and her whole life has
been in shades of gray. So when the girl across the room smiles at
her and she walks across the room to her and she sees she has gray
eyes, she thinks that’s just
perfect.
The girl
with the gray eyes introduces herself as May. She holds out her hand
as if she’s drowning in gray waters, and May just smiles and takes
her hand.
