Rose

There once was a girl named Rose,
who dressed in ribbons and bows.
She had lots of friends,
and knew lots of men,
but had no place to go.

Once, Rose met a boy,
who was sweet, quiet, and coy.
For him, Rose was his life,
and he wanted her for a wife.
But Rose did not understand,
and could not take up the demand.
So on a hot summer's night,
under the moon, shining bright,
she slit her wrists and she cried.
