The three runaways boarded a train to their next destination under cover. R.E.F.U. had been made to wear a hat to cover his green locks & a shirt & pants in replace of his usual laboratory scrub gown, but he wasn't thinking much about his disguise as he was taking a little rest on Cho's lap.

"I wish you wouldn't baby him like that." Dr. Shouei muffled from his germ mask that was to hide his face, "He's gonna get spoilt from all that attention."

"I can't help it. He's so KAWAII!" Cho said smiling at R.E.F.U. as he cooed in his sleep before turning to Shouei. "Are you jealous, Sensei, cause I think YOU'RE the one who's wanting attention."

"What?! No! As if I wanted to be a part of such ridiculous--"

Of course, being as giddy as Cho was feeling that morning, she playfully tackled her student advisor with tiny little giggled protests from the old man. Unfortunately their fun had to be cut short as the ticket master called out to their final destination.

Cho sighed & tapped R.E.F.U.'s shoulder. "R.E.F.U., wake up. We're here."

R.E.F.U. moaned a bit as he got up & walked out from the train. He was a bit surprised & awe stricken at the site he saw. The town that they came to was mainly composed of newly built buildings while some buildings had some pieces knocked off & signs of carbon on the sides. The people there were just finishing up their town monster drill--it was necessary as many of these off shore towns got attacked from unexpected creatures of the deep. Though most of the townsfolk seemed normal looking, some of them had marking as if they had been severely burnt & even some of the children there had at least some sort of deformity to them. To any normal person, this scene would probably make them sick, but since R.E.F.U. had never truly experienced life outside the lab where he was born, everything was a surprise to him & wouldn't know what to be sick of.

"R.E.F.U.," Dr. Shouei stated, "this is Hiroshima; where your origins began."

"Oh my…" Cho whispered to herself, clasping her hands to her face with tears of horror & remorse.

R.E.F.U. saw the tears & thinking something had hurt her, came over to her rescue with his arms on her shoulders.

"I--I'm fine, R.E.F.U. I just--" Cho then felt a bit of stinging pain in her chest and winced a bit from it.

This time, Dr. Shouei showed some worry. "Cho-san!"

"My chest hurts a bit, but I'm alright." Cho groaned, feeling a little dizzy.

Shouei observed Cho a bit. "Just to make sure, we should let a physician look at you."

Both R.E.F.U. & Dr. Shouei waited worryingly in the waiting room. You could tell how nervous they were by the way Dr. Shouei rubbed his eyes & by the way R.E.F.U. was looking at the floor while having his arms wrapped around himself. Despite the calm atmosphere of the hospital (with a bit of the smell of ammonia as many of these "modern" hospitals have these days), to both men, their mood seemed gray & troublesome as they were waiting for news on Cho's health.

The physician came in & began speaking with Dr. Shouei. The doctor barely noticed R.E.F.U. sitting right next to Shouei as anyone who didn't know him & were observing his behavior would've taken him as merely a child (or at least someone with the mind of a child). This of course, both annoyed and bored R.E.F.U. dearly, so while the two men were busy & distracting discussing Cho's state of health, R.E.F.U. decided to get up & try to find Cho himself.

R.E.F.U. had no idea where to look, so he just wondered around the building aimlessly. He did catch into a nurse & surgeon kissing each other secretly in the hallways, which for some reason, "interested" him a bit, but he was distracted by a small voice behind him.

"Whacha doin', mister?"

R.E.F.U. turned around in surprised & now was staring down at a little girl no more than 5 or 6 years of age.

"I'm--looking…" he said as if shy & trying to find the right words to say. He'd never really talked to someone so small before.

"Ah." The little girl nodded. "Yeah, I'm kinda bored too. My mommy is having a baby & it takes a long time." She sighed, "I hope Pikadon doesn't make her or the baby sick."

"Pika--don?"

The little girl nodded. "My mommy says of all the monsters who came destroying things here in this city, Pikadon was the worst of them all. When Pikadon fell from the sky, it not only brought down buildings & killed people in its strength & fire, but it also made people really sick & die even after it came. People today are still dying from the Pikadon disease & its poison affects even kids today who were born after Pikadon came."

R.E.F.U.'s eyes widened & almost shook in fear while hearing about this "monster". What scared him the most was the fact that people had gotten sick from this beast. Could Cho have contacted the same illness?

"But as long as we have hope, we can conquer our fears & not let Pikadon take over us." The little girl then smiled at the young man. "You wanna play?"

"Umm… sure…"

But unfortunately for R.E.F.U. at that moment, Dr. Shouei spotted R.E.F.U. & grabbed him by the ear.

"I take my eyes off you for ONE minute & you just go wondering off! Come on, we can go see Cho now." And the old man started dragging R.E.F.U. off by the ear.

As R.E.F.U. was being dragged off, he saw the little girl smiling & waving back at him.

"SAIYONARA!"
