She had it all, the wavy blonde hair, bold, deep-green eyes, and the perfect smile. She was the top cheerleader, had all the designer clothes, and tons of friends. Everyone loved Catherine, but no one knew the other side of her.
Catherine stepped inside her house, finding it empty. It hasn’t been the first time. It happened for the past ten weeks. She stepped into her room and blasted her music through her iPod. She started her homework, quietly humming to the words of her favorite song. Once she finished, she pushed her frozen food into the microwave and heated it for three minutes. She approached the table and ate there, quietly. A short while after, the doorbell rang. Catherine rushed to the door and found a note wrapped in tape on the ground. Catherine looked once or twice, no one was at the door so she closed it and locked it. She opened the note and it said, “Hey Catherine, it’s been forever since I’ve been here. I apologize. I know it has been ten weeks, I can imagine how lonely you’ve been and I know how many times you tried to call me, and I didn’t answer. I guess I didn’t have the guts to. Anyways, Catherine, I have news that will upset you, and I’m truly sorry. The reason why we weren’t here for that long was because one reason, your Mom has cancer. We found out two years ago and didn’t tell you because the condition got better, but the last ten weeks have been a terrible struggle for Mom. She didn’t want you to be upset, she would’ve talked but it was too late. But the thing is, Catherine, Mom died this morning. I’m sorry and I love you. –Dad”
Catherine ripped the letter. She threw it away and continued eating her dinner, she went to sleep. When she woke up next morning, she went to school and everything was normal, she was still the perfect girl. The truth is, Catherine’s heart was broken inside, so I guess, she didn’t have it all, did she?
