Author's Note: Hello everyone! Remember how I said I was going to make a new and improved version of chapter one! I was serious!! I'm gonna remake it because I found a lot of errors and I didn't explain things that come about in the series. Also, if I delete the old chapter one (which got over 600 hits) and replace it with this one, all the hits it got will be lost. Will you all be so kind as to read my story and give chapter one its 600 hits? I'll return the favor! Oh! I got a new manga! It's called Koi Cupid! It's sooooo cute! I love it despite the constant (and annoying) underwear shots (its not ecchi, I swear!)! Anyway, I present to you, the new and greatly improved chapter one of the story that started it all! The Catalyst's Rebellion!! Please read and review nicely! NO FLAMES!! Happy reading!
CHAPTER 1: The Catalyst Awakens
The time of day was unknown at this point, but many people wearing white lab coats were running and scurrying around in what appears to be a science laboratory. There was a table with glass beakers, glass test tubes, bottles with labels and chemicals in them, and many other science trinkets. There were also strange, high-tech boxes and a giant glass tube with green liquid in it. A calendar on the wall read Monday, May 29, 2035. A man was looking at it. He looked to be in his mid-30's. He wore rectangular shaped glasses and a black suit along with a white lab coat covering it.
Meanwhile, a lady with scarlet brown hair tied into a ponytail was holding test tubes with red liquid in them. One had a label which read 'Fujioka, S.' and the other one was labeled 'Fujioka, N.' and the lady gently placed them on a small, black booth. Another scientist was typing on a black keyboard with square buttons that glow green when you type on them.
"Doctor, is it ready?" The lady asked.
"Not just yet. We still need to find the Delta 32 DNA sample" The man at the keyboard told her. Another lady approached them. She had blue hair tied into a braid with a purple ribbon and was holding a clipboard.
"I hear that gene has been very hard to find. Did anyone know that survivors of the Bubonic Plague in England had Delta 32?" The lady explained.
"Yes, I do know" The scarlet-haired lady said when someone burst through the door. It was a young man. He looked to be in his late teens, about 19 years old. He also wore a white lab coat. He had round, black hair and was holding a small piece of glass that was shaped like a rectangle which had a small, pink thing in it.
"Everyone! I have Delta 32!" The boy shouted. The scarlet-haired lady ran up to him in glee.
"Oh thank goodness! Now we can proceed with creating a catalyst!" The lady exclaimed happily. She took the glass piece and ran off to see the man at the keyboard. The lady with the braid looked at him.
"Where did you find that anyway?" The lady asked.
"Oh! While I was at the parking lot, I found this little safe that was loaded with Delta 32 samples! I dug it up with a small shovel that was there! Can you believe it? I was shocked to see it too!" The man explained. The scarlet haired lady handed the glass piece to the man and he put it in an opening that was shaped like a circle. There were two other rectangle shaped glass pieces with strange things in them as well.
"Alpha 10, Beta 88, Delta 32...the three DNA samples needed for the creation of a catalyst. The Alpha 10 sample we have is a piece of a heart of an individual with schizophrenia. The Beta 88 sample is a piece of the brain of an individual with Autism. The Delta 32 sample we have appears to be a sample of an immune system. Alright!" The man explained as he turned to the scarlet-haired lady.
"Please place the blood samples into the small glass tube over there, if you will" The man told her.
"Yes sir!" The lady said and arrive at a small glass tube. She poured both samples of blood into the small tube. She poured them all into the tube, leaving the test tubes empty. She then placed the black lid on it so that it wouldn't escape and splatter around.
"Bring Kojiro-san here! He needs to witness this!" The man said.
"Yes sir!" The lady with the braid said. She ran out the door to find said man.
Meanwhile, the young man in his 30's continued looking at the calendar. He then pulled out what appears to be a small photograph. It had a picture of him, a caramel haired lady, and two children. All had happy, carefree and smiling faces. One of the children had long hair like a girl, so the gender of the child was yet to be known. The man looked rather said.
'I'm sorry, Chiaki. I need to do this. It's...a surprise...for you' The man thought when the lady with the braid gently placed her hand on his shoulder. The man felt this and turned to her.
"Kojiro-san. We are preparing for the experiment. Please, come see. I bet you'll be surprised" The lady told him. The man, Kojiro, decided to follow the lady into the other room. He, the two women, and many other scientists gazed upon the larger glass tube as the man at the keyboard began typing again.
"Alright! Everything is in place! Catalyst creation...begin!" The man announced as he placed his middle finger on a larger, circle-shaped, green button when suddenly, the liquid in the giant tube started to bubble.
The bottom of the tube began to emit strange, small, apricot-colored particles. They either resembled diamonds or pieces of chopped up sushi. They danced around the giant tube freely and did not stop. Soon, the bottom of the tube emitted a million of green bubbles of varying sizes. The particles then scattered to the middle of the tube while the bubbles slowly began to surround the particles while making gurgling sounds. The particles then began to come together and form. The particles began to stretch out 5 different ways.
The two bottom ones were slowly stretching and slowly began to dissolve and fuse together. The bottoms slightly bend and begin to come together. They finally formed...a set of feet! The particles above them slowly begin to form...a set of legs! The legs then slowly begin to bend. Then, the particles above them slowly form lower parts of the human body, then a chest to come after that. The chest was very flat and smooth, so it was likely to be of the male sex.
The other two stretching set of particles, which were on both sides of the body, stretched out a little more and slowly 5 smaller particles stretched out just a little and began forming...fingers! Following them were particles in square shapes beginning to form hands. The hands were very small and delicate, like an infant. The set of particles after that began to dissolve into each other and fuse to form...a set of arms! The arms then began to bend. The hands and fingers both formed fists and placed themselves onto the knees and in front of the chest.
Finally, the final set of particles were ready to fuse. Some of them fused together to form a perfectly normal human neck while the ones making the round shape were dissolving and becoming...a head! The nose was being formed, the eyes, the mouth (which is closed), and the hair. Some of the particles turned brown when they fused and dissolved. This gave it long, brown hair like a girl. Finally, all the pieces form together to make...
A human!
A human child to be exact. A little boy. A very androgynous little boy. He was currently in the fetal position like an infant waiting to be born into the world. Everyone became excited.
"It worked!"
"Yes! A new catalyst is born!"
"Kojiro-san! We made you a catalyst! Isn't that great?"
The child that people kept calling a catalyst was still in fetal position and its eyes were closed. Kojiro slowly walked up to the boy in the tube and noticed that his mouth was moving just a little. But then he noticed a crack in the tube. Soon, the crack became larger and larger. Then, more cracks began to form! Everyone begins to notice this.
"Oh! He's coming out! Take cover!" The scarlet-haired lady said and all the scientists ran under the tables to keep safe from the breaking glass. Kojiro stood there. Then...
CRASH!
The glass tube shattered and pieces of glass were flying everywhere. Green liquid began pouring out, but Kojiro was not hurt in any way. He then noticed the young boy slowly falling out of the area. He was no longer in fetal position. Kojiro then slowly raised his arms out to catch him so that he wouldn't get hurt. Then...
The boy safely fell into Kojiro's arms.
Kojiro was on his knees while he had the delicate and sleeping boy in his arms. His skin was a perfect apricot despite still being a little wet from the green liquid. He had perfectly smooth and long arms and legs along with tiny, delicate fingers and cute toes. His chest was smooth, flat and fragile and looked like it could easily be bruised. Kojiro could not help but to gaze at the unconscious boy's nude body (You will NOT see his 'boy part'! Don't worry!) and behold it before his eyes. The man who was on the keyboard walked up to the speechless man.
"Your creation is finally alive. What are you going to name him?" The man asked. Kojiro now gazed at the sleeping boy who was finally breathing on his own. There was a long pause and silence, until...
"Tajin"
A few minutes later, some scientists were in another room. The clock on the wall read 5:57 PM and Kojiro and the others were watching the boy through a window which led to another room. The window is actually a 2-way mirror. The scarlet-haired lady was sitting on a padded chair while Kojiro, the blue-haired lady and another man were standing in the room.
"Alright...his temperature seems normal, his pulse is normal, heart rate's normal, brain waves are normal, development seems to be normal, blood capacity is normal...okay! It seems we have a normal, healthy newborn catalyst! Aren't you happy, Kojiro-san?" The scarlet-haired lady explained.
"Yes. I am happy. I've been waiting for this day since the car accident the last week and a half" Kojiro replied. But what they didn't know was that...
The boy was beginning to wake up.
"Good thing we got him dressed. He didn't wake up to it at all. He didn't wake up to anything" The blue-haired lady said when they noticed Kojiro staring at the mirror which was showing the boy. He looked to be baffled and surprised.
The boy's eyes were slowly opening.
Kojiro was watching the whole thing. The scientists began to notice this. The boy also began to slowly try and sit himself up.
"He's waking up. Why don't you go see him?" The scarlet-haired lady asked.
"I...I don't want to scare him..." Kojiro whispered.
"It'll be alright. It'll take a lot to scare a newborn catalyst. Go on. Visit him" The man said. Kojiro finally decided to walk to the door which led to the room the boy was in. Kojiro could only stare as he saw the boy sitting up. The boy appeared to be dressed in a short-sleeved, white shirt along with matching white pants. Kojiro opened his mouth a little to try and speak, but he didn't as he was afraid he was going to scare the boy. The boy then managed to lift his head up and look at Kojiro. He didn't make eye contact with him, but Kojiro knew he was looking right at him.
"H...Hello..." Kojiro muttered. The boy then slowly raised his hand. A few seconds later, he waved his hand really slowly. Kojiro smiled at the sight. The boy was responding to him! Kojiro then slowly walked up to the side of the bed and gently put his hands around the boy's small, delicate hand.
"I'm...Kojiro" He said while introducing himself. The boy only turned his head away. Kojiro just assumed he was just shy. Kojiro then let go of the boy's hand and stepped back a little.
"You can take your time. I won't rush you" Kojiro told him. As usual, no response came out...but the boy pushed the blankets away and tried to slide to the side of the bed. His legs hung from the bed, revealing his small feet. The boy then slowly tried to move and push his feet down onto the floor. He held onto the bed as he tried to stand up. Kojiro saw this and held onto his ribs.
"Are...you trying to walk? I'll help you!" Kojiro said as he held onto the boy as he tried to stand up. Kojiro then took both the boy's hands and slowly stepped away just a little bit. The boy's foot then slowly moved itself off of the ground and took a step forward. The other foot began to follow suit. The scientists from the other side of the mirror were observing the whole thing.
"The boy's trying to walk" The scarlet-haired lady said.
"He's got a lot of potential, that kid" An unknown man said.
Meanwhile, Kojiro was a little further away from the boy and wasn't holding his hands anymore. The boy was now standing upright and normally.
"Come to me please. Walk towards me" Kojiro whispered to the boy gently. The boy then slowly held his hands out and slowly took a step forward. His other foot followed suit. Then, he took a few more steps. He wobbled a bit, but he tried to keep his balance upright. All in all, the boy began to walk normally as he finally reached Kojiro and grabbed onto his tie. Kojiro smiled happily.
"You did it! You walked toward me! I knew it!" Kojiro said while his eyes began to tear up. The scarlet-haired lady began to look a little confused.
"He's not saying anything. Usually catalysts can memorize spoken and written words and know their meanings in an instant. But this boy's not talking" The lady said.
"Kagawa-san did say that one of the DNA samples we used to create him was from a kid with Autism, right? Don't worry. Their brains are like supercomputers. I'm sure he'll say something in no--" The unknown man said when suddenly...
"KOJIRO!!"
Someone screamed and burst into the room. The door burst open like a bomb. This scared the boy, but for some reason, his eyes glew a bright yellow color unbeknownist to everyone. Kojiro got mad. The man at the door had a white lab coat, black pants, brown shoes, messy brown hair, blue eyes, glasses and a goatee.
"Takano-san! You scared my son! What's that about!?" Kojiro yelled.
"Y-Y-You're not going to believe what I found!!" Takano screamed when Kojiro walked up to him and slapped his hand onto his mouth.
"Be quiet! Don't scare the child!" Kojiro snapped at him. But surprisingly, the boy wasn't scared at all. The boy's bangs were covering his eyes, so they were hidden. He just stood there, lifeless like a doll. But Kojiro paid no attention to him.
"You'll never believe what I found! I was inspecting the three samples that were just used to create him and...!!" Takano said, but he was too shocked to finish his sentence.
"And what?" Kojiro asked.
"O-O-One of the samples was contaminated with Omega 101! That child has the Omega 101 DNA structure in him!!" Takano yelled.
"What!? What is that anyway!?" Kojiro asked.
"It...it's a gene that enables catalysts to have unknown and phenomenal powers beyond of which is obtainable. Although we have very few records of O-Catalysts, or catalysts with Omega 101 in them, in our database, the ones we encountered were all homicidal monsters! This child could destroy us all!!" Takano explained. Kojiro pushed his hand away.
"What!? That's absurd! My child has no such gene!" Kojiro replied. He wasn't believing a thing Takano was saying.
"Have you looked at his eyes yet?" Takano asked.
"No. He hasn't shown me. He's just shy! He'll get used to me when he wants to--" Kojiro said when he noticed Takano walking towards the boy. Takano lifted the boy's chin and looked straight into his eyes.
His eyes were a very pretty gold color. Like jewelery. But this made Takano more suspicious. He also noticed that the boy's eyes were empty. There were no pupils. Could he be traumatized? Takano let go of the boy's chin and walked back to Kojiro.
"One of the signs is that their eyes are gold. Haven't you noticed that?" Takano said.
"Look! Just because my newborn son has gold eyes, that doesn't mean he's some monster trying to destroy the human race--" Kojiro yelled at Takano when suddenly...
"Ow!"
Somehing cut his arm.
As he turned around, he was shocked to see what was right before his brown eyes.
A lance!
It was really long, about 2 meters. The part that cut Kojiro was the front and it was purple and designed to look like a wolf with teeth. The back of it looked like a small dagger, but it was also all purple and the sides were slightly pointed (in short, it's similar to those of Xaldin's lances from Kingdom Hearts). Kojiro turned around and became scared.
His son had 5 lances of varying colors surrounding him!
The one that cut his arm quickly disappeared in a flash of light.
"T-T-Tajin! What are those!?" Kojiro asked while beginning to panic. Takano grabbed a black walkie-talkie out.
"I'm calling security!" Takano said when he held the walkie-talkie up to his ear. "We got a catalyst on a rampage here! Come get'em!" Takano yelled and put the walkie-talkie away.
"N-N-No! He's not on a rampage! He's probably beginning to master his powers! See? He doesn't--" Kojiro said thinking nothing of it when he turned back to see his son and became scared. The part of his shirt is floating and on his stomach...
Was a giant eyeball lodged in his abdomen!
The iris was bright gold while the part around it that's usually white was black.
The eye began to glow bright gold and the boy's eyes on his head began glowing as well. Soon, the boy had six lances! All of which were red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. They all surrounded him when suddenly the boy began grabbing hold of all the lances at once. He had three lances in both of his hands. He showed no emotion and looked like he was going to attack.
He then turned to the mirror that was at his left side. He then lifted his right hand which held the red, orange and yellow lances, when...
Whoosh!
CRASH!
The red lance was thrown and it broke the mirror! In fact, it went straight through the mirror, and hit the machine that the scarlet-haired lady was using. The broken machine began emitting blue electricity as it began to malfunction then...
It burst into flames!
"Oh no!! Everyone! Call the Fire Brigade!!" The unknown man screamed and ran out of the room. Kojiro went through the broken window and went to help the lady who was unconscious when the machine began to catch on fire.
"Mai!! Are you alright!?" Kojiro asked, referring to the scarlet-haired lady as Mai. Mai began to wake up and saw Kojiro above her.
"Yes...I...I'm alright..." Mai said as she tried to stand herself up. But when Kojiro turned around, he saw the boy and his six lances, all in hand, walking out of the room! His eyeball on his abdomen was still visible and glowing. Kojiro helped Mai to her feet and ran to his son who was beginning to go on a rampage.
"T-Tajin!! Stop this right now!!" Kojiro screamed when he put his hand on the boy's shoulder, but the boy's eyes glew brighter and suddenly a multi-colored, crescent-shaped light came out from his eye and blew Kojiro away! Then, suddenly the walls around Kojiro were beginning to catch on fire! Kojiro sat against the wall, shocked, scared and confused. Then, the boy walked up to him with a cold, emotionless stare and pointed his blue lance at the baffled Kojiro, threatening him. Kojiro began to sweat as the flames around him began to spread across the laboratory. Fortunately, he wasn't within the fire's reach.
"My...my son...what went wrong!? Who...who are you!?" Kojiro screamed, heartbroken. The boy continued to give him the cold stare.
"Bring me...to life..."
The boy whispered "bring me to life" for some reason. His voice appeared to be that of a young boy who hadn't reached puberty yet, but it was being overlapped by a voice of that of a rich and handsome young man already going into puberty. Kojiro was confused.
"What do you mean? What have you done to my son!? WHO ARE YOU!?" Kojiro screamed.
"Use the boy's unspeakable power...to resurrect the first catalyst...born into this world. I...am locked away in the moon...use this boy's Omega 101 powers...to resurrect me from this confinement!" The boy finally explained. His voice was being taken over by the handsome man's voice. Kojiro was more confused than ever, but he began to look angry. The boy then pulled his blue lance back when suddenly, a group of security guards armed with rifles aimed at him.
"Hey you! Stop where you are!" One security guard yelled. The boy turned to them and suddenly, his green and purple lance are released from his hands, float in the air, and...
Whoosh!
They fly at the security guard's and knock their rifles to the ground! The boy continued to walk through the group as the building's flames began to engulf the laboratory. The boy went on ahead as his lances began to disappear. One security guard grabbed Kojiro and ran out of the building.
Soon, all the residents of the small laboratory evacuated the small building a few blocks away from an even bigger building and a big, red fire truck appeared. Then, the fire's ashes slowly began to rise into the night sky.
One day later...
It is currently a beautiful evening in a little suburb in Tokyo called Kisara. The town was recently built after a terrible hurricane called named Alastor wiped out part of Tokyo up to a bit of Hokkaido back in 2005. There had been nothing but a big, empty space until people decided to restart their lives and build houses, a park, some schools, stores, and other places and things. The little town in the ever-busy Tokyo became the not-so-busy Kisara. For some reason though, it became the focal point of children with developmental disabilities being born. This was the most common city in Japan to have half of its population occupied by disabled children.
Inside of Kisara, the sun was beginning to set, making the sky mostly orange with a mish-mash of purple and red. People began either going home to sleep or getting ready to go to work. Summer was beginning to set in because today is Tuesday, May 30, 2035.
A young lady was standing in front of a small building called Nakayama's Foodplace.
The lady looked to be in her mid-30's, maybe 35. She had semi-long, caramel-colored hair that went down to her upper back with a tint of blonde. She had brown eyes like chocolate. Since summer was coming, she decided to wear a sleeveless, white shirt and dark blue jeans that only went to her knees, like capris. She also wore white sneakers and around her neck appears to be a gold locket perfectly round like an oval. She also had on a brown purse over her right shoulder which had a long strap. As she saw someone walk out of the building, her face lit up and she smiled happily.
"Gouda-san!" The lady cried out in a polite, soft young lady's voice.
The man she saw turned his head to find the lady running up to her. The man's hair was a bit lighter than the lady's and his eyes were a bit lighter also. He wore a short-sleeved, beige coat over a light blue shirt and dark brown jeans along with brown shoes. His hair was in a small ponytail that stood up a little and he wore glasses (Sorry that he kinda resembles Kaien Cross from Vampire Knight). His skin was a bit more pale than the lady's, but he also had a light blue earring on his left ear. He smiled as the lady approached him. The man also looked to be in his late 20's.
"Ah, if it isn't Fujioka Chiaki-chan! How did you know I was here?" The man asked in a young, handsome and kind voice. The lady, Fujioka Chiaki (Chiaki is her first name. In Japan, people say their surnames first and their first names last. What do they do with their middle names?), smiled at him.
"I didn't. I saw you walk in while I was on my way home, so I decided to wait here for you. You don't mind, do you?" Chiaki asked.
"No no, I don't mind at all. We are dating, you know? And haven't I told you to call me Yukitaka?" The man, introducing himself as Gouda Yukitaka, told her with a smile.
"I apologize, Yukitaka-san" Chiaki said when Yukitaka noticed the gold locket around her neck.
"Ah, I see you have a new accessory on you. Did you buy that just recently?" Yukitaka asked.
"Oh! My locket. Yes, I bought it about a week ago" Chiaki said when she pulled out her locket and opened it.
It revealed a picture of her with a man and two young children. Both male kids. One child had jet black hair and dark brown eyes. He looked to be about 11-12 years of age. The boy next to him had brown hair tied in a limp ponytail that went to his back and matching brown eyes. He looked to be about 13 years of age. The man next to Chiaki also looked to be in his 30's and had dark brown hair along with matching eyes. He had his arms around Chiaki. All the people in the small picture were smiling happily.
"Your family. That's Kojiro, Shinji, and Nobu, am I right?" Yukitaka asked.
"Yes. This picture was taken during the 20th Annual Picnic of Kisara. Everyone had a great time. There were lots of nice people, lots of children playing, lots of pretty flowers, lots of great little stores. Did I mention their items are very cheap?" Chiaki explained. She and Yukitaka laughed. But then Yukitaka's casual smile dissolved and he looked sad.
"Chiaki-chan...I'm so sorry about what happened. Shinji dying in a car accident and having Kojiro blame you for the incident and take Nobu away last month...I wish I could've been there..." Yukitaka murmured in a sad tone.
"Yes. I understand. But there was nothing to be done. Shinji suffered a severe concussion because of it. I...I wish I could've just looked both ways before I cross..." Chiaki said when her brown eyes began to form tears. Yukitaka held up his hand and gently lifted her chin up. He used his other hand and gently used his finger to take the tears off of Chiaki's face.
"Don't blame yourself. Accidents happen. My previous girlfriend saved me from a falling construction beam, but she died in the process. Don't cry, Chiaki-chan..." Yukitaka said. Chiaki dried herself off and smiled at him.
"Thanks for your support, Yukitaka-san. I appreciate it" Chiaki said when Yukitaka looked like he remembered something.
"Oh! Chiaki-chan...I meant to tell you this, but things kept getting in the way..." Yukitaka said. Chiaki got confused.
"Hm? What's wrong?" Chiaki asked. Yukitaka sighed.
"How should I put this? Ummm...My...my boss has assigned me to go overseas to South Korea to study the phenomena of animal cloning. They want to know why the cat's noses glow in the dark" Yukitaka explained.
"I saw something like that on the news once" Chiaki replied.
"I...I said I'd take it, but...I'll be gone for a few months..." Yukitaka told her. Chiaki looked a little sad again.
"You should go. They need you. I'll be alright here by myself. I have friends, y'know?" Chiaki replied.
"Are you sure? If you want, I don't have to go. It's a choice" Yukitaka asked.
"It's okay. You need to finish up what's important. You always wanted to be a researcher and a scientist, right? You should do what you want to do. I won't hold you back" Chiaki replied.
"Alright then. But don't push yourself too hard, alright? When...I come back...I want to ask you something. I better be going now. I'll see you in August, Chiaki-chan" Yukitaka said as he put his green purse over his shoulder and walked away. Chiaki waved goodbye to him as she watched him walk away. As she finished, she put her hand down and began to look a little sad. She then walked away from Nakayama's Foodplace and began walking on the sidewalk in which Central Park, which was a REALLY big and wide park, was next to the street while she was walking next to the fronts of some buildings. The sky began to turn dark blue as the orange and purple coloring in the clouds began to fade into the sky.
Chiaki did feel sad as she turned to walk into a small alley which consisted of mostly the backs of some buildings. She continued to walk through it in an attempt to go home. As she continued walking, a loud clanging was heard along with a "Wah!!" sound being heard. As she turned to her left, she saw a pile of trash bags, two trash cans and...
A human body!
The body was clothed with a partially sleeveless white shirt along with matching pants. The body was also barefoot. Chiaki couldn't see the face because a trash can lid was covering it's face.
Chiaki walked up to it and kneeled down to its level and slowly began to remove the dirty, rusty, grey trash can lid. As she finally removed the lid from it's face, she was shocked to see...
A young boy!
The boy had long, brown hair that went to his back like a girl. He was unconscious, so his eyes weren't seen. There were some red scratches and bruises on his arms and his feet were black from the dirt. Chiaki became shocked and worried.
"Oh no! This poor child! I need to help him!" Chiaki yelped in worry as she gently placed her head on the boy's chest to see if his heart was beating. It was. She then gently placed her hand on the boy's chest again to see if he was breathing. He was. Chiaki sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness! He's not dead. I better take him home and clean him up. He looks like he was beaten up or something" Chiaki told herself as she slowly scooped the unconscious boy into her arms and began running away from the alley. A few minutes later, she arrived in front of a large, possibly 2-story white house. It was very wide with a blue porch with a pair of wind chimes hanging from the ceiling of it and some vases that contained flowers. In the driveway were two cars. A black van and a dark blue Mercedes-Benz. Chiaki entered the house with the boy in her arms and ran to find the bathroom. Her house also had a pink roof
She found her bathroom and placed the boy on the rug. She turned the faucet in the bath tub around and it began spewing water. Chiaki then removed the boy's dirty, white clothes and placed him into the bath tub. Chiaki then began thinking.
'I wonder what he should wear?...Oh! I still have those pajamas that don't fit me anymore!' Chiaki thought when she ran out of the bathroom and scurried to get a pair of pajamas. She came back into the bathroom holding pajamas which consisted of a dark red, long-sleeved shirt and matching pants. They also had yellow and white pastel lines. Chiaki then picked up a plastic bowl, filled it up with water and began to pour it on the boy's hair every few seconds. Then she grabbed a white bar of soap and began scrubbing him.
A few minutes later, the still sleeping boy was finally clean. But Chiaki wasn't done yet. Although he was dressed in the pajamas and clean boxers now, Chiaki proceeded to dry his hair with a purple blow-dryer she has. Then, he was finally done. Chiaki took the sleeping boy and gently placed him on her bed. This was her room. A large bed with yellow and light green covers, a tall, tan bureau along with a short, black one on the other side of the room, and a small night stand with a lamp on it. Chiaki looked down at the sleeping boy and gently placed the back of her hand on his soft, delicate cheek. She began rubbing her hand against it.
'This boy...he looks so much like Shinji...I wonder if...' thought Chiaki when her eyes got a little big like she noticed something. She stared at the boy's sleeping face a little further. 'I...I think I saw his eyes move. I better look again' thought Chiaki when she krept up closer to the boy's sleeping eyes until...
They moved.
She was right.
The boy was beginning to wake up.
'O-Oh my! He's waking up! I-I have to do something! He doesn't know me, so...okay. I have to be calm. I have to reassure this boy that I'm not going to hurt him. Calm down, Chiaki...' She thought when she saw the boy's eyes finally open up. As they opened up fully, Chiaki saw that they were a pretty gold color, like jewelery. Chiaki gazed at the boy's eyes while she sat next to him on the other side of the bed, but he didn't notice. Then, the boy's head turned towards Chiaki. She got a little nervous.
'Alright, Chiaki. This boy doesn't know you, but you have to be calm. Speak to him gently and softly. Don't scare him. Alright' Chiaki said to herself, then smiled at the boy.
"H...Hello..." Chiaki whispered to the boy softly so that she wouldn't scare him. The boy continued looking at her and didn't move or respond.
"You...don't know me. I understand. My name is Chiaki. Fujioka Chiaki. What's your name?" Chiaki explained while introducing herself. The boy didn't move or respond again. He wasn't scared of her at all. Chiaki closed her eyes and smiled in relief.
'Good. He's not afraid of me. But I still need to keep a soft voice' Chiaki thought when she noticed the boy trying to sit up.
"Oh! I'll help you" Chiaki said as she put one hand on the boy's back, and the other on his chest to help him out. She manages to help the boy sit up straight. The boy then held his arms up and noticed he had small bandages on both of them.
"Oh. You were trapped under trash piles and you had cuts all over your arms. I made sure they weren't infected and I put those on to keep them from bleeding" Chiaki explained in whispers so that he wouldn't be scared. But to her surprise, throughout this whole time, he was not scared of her at all.
The boy then looked at Chiaki again. He scooched over closer to her and gazed into her brown eyes with his sterling gold eyes. The boy's small, delicate hand began rising to Chiaki's face and gently stroke her cheek. The boy's thumb began to rub against her soft cheek gently and slowly. Then, the boy's other hand was on her head, gently moving the hair that was in the way of her eyes. The boy continued to examine Chiaki's face with his hands like he had never seen it before. He had never actually seen Chiaki before anyway. Chiaki didn't mind, but was a little confused. She had never been treated this way by a child before. But the way he was doing it wasn't really bad either.
'Hmmm...this boy doesn't seem like other boys his age. It's like he's never seen a human face before? Could he be autistic? Could he have been abused or something? Was he injured in some way? I probably shouldn't ask. He probably wouldn't understand or remember what happened to him' thought Chiaki as the boy continued to examine her face with his hands while looking straight at her, making full eye contact.
'No. Autistic kids don't make eye contact very much, so...' thought Chiaki when...
growllll
She heard a rumbling sound. It wasn't her. The boy stopped touching Chiaki and looked down at his stomach. His face turned red a little bit. Chiaki smiled and knew what this meant.
"I'll bet you haven't eaten much lately. I'll go prepare some nice toast and bananas. Stay here, okay?" Chiaki said and decided to make some food for the boy. The boy was left alone in Chiaki's bedroom while she went to make him a little something to eat. Tajin gazed around the room with his eyes looking a little curious. He had never seen a room like this before. He looked up at the light that was on the ceiling, which was on, when some words echoed into his head.
"Your creation is finally alive. What are you going to name him?"
"Tajin"
"T-T-Tajin! What are those!?"
Words continued to echo through the boy's mind. He looked scared a little, but his mouth slowly began to move.
"Ta..."
Meanwhile, Chiaki was in her large kitchen watching the toaster while she grabbed some fresh, all yellow bananas from a white bowl, peeled the top part off, and began cutting it into smaller pieces to put on a tray. As she turned around, POP! went the toaster. Chiaki then went to take the toast out, put it on the tray, spread butter on both with a small knife, and cut both pieces in half, vertically.
"I think this will do. Shinji and Nobu loved light toast and bananas in little pieces, so I'll bet this boy would like some too. I better put my fresh hot tea here to warm him up" Chiaki said as she grabbed two cups of tea and put it on the tray which the toast and banana pieces were on. Chiaki carried the plate carefully so that she wouldn't drop it. She then left the kitchen, went through the living room, and walked up the stairs to walk back to her room, where the boy was currently in.
She walked up very slowly so that she wouldn't drop the food and tea. A few seconds later, she arrived back at her room.
"I'm back! I'll bet you're--" Chiaki exclaimed with a smile as she came into the room when...
"Tajin"
Chiaki heard someone speak. The boy turned her way again to look at her with his golden eyes. Chiaki got a little confused and put the tray of food onto the floor.
"Did...you say something?" Chiaki asked, when...
"I am...Tajin"
The boy spoke! His voice didn't seem happy, but it was definitely the voice of a young boy who was yet to reach puberty. Chiaki smiled in excitement and walked up to the boy.
"So, your name's Tajin-kun? Nice to meet you!" Chiaki said to the boy, finally known as Tajin, and smiled happily. Tajin then slowly tried to move off of the bed. He slowly touched the floor with his bare feet, which the black dirt was cleaned, and slowly tried to walk. He successfully walks up to the tray of food and sits down. Chiaki decides to sit down with him, but she sat on the other side of the tray. Tajin then slowly picks up a piece of a banana and looks at it like he's never seen one before. Chiaki saw this.
"Have you eaten a banana before? They're very good. You eat them. Watch me" Chiaki asked when she took a banana piece and ate it. She then swallowed it and faced Tajin.
"Now you try" Chiaki told him. Tajin looked at the banana piece in his hand, then gently threw it into his mouth and began chewing it. He didn't think much of it, but Chiaki smiled.
"How is it? Is it good?" Chiaki asked. Tajin swallowed his banana piece and looked at Chiaki.
"Good..." Tajin muttered softly. He then grabbed a piece of the buttered toast and began chewing off of it. He was only eating small pieces of it, but he did try to eat the piece he was eating. Chiaki smiled with joy.
'Great. He's doing okay' thought Chiaki when Tajin finished up his piece of toast and looked at Chiaki again.
"Ch...Chiaki..." Tajin murmured.
"Yes. My name is Chiaki. Yours is Tajin" Chiaki explained when Tajin slowly put his hand gently on Chiaki's nose.
"Nice...to...meet...you...Chiaki..." Tajin told her. He seemed to have a bit of trouble saying a simple sentence. But Chiaki didn't mind and held onto his hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Tajin-kun" Chiaki said when Tajin looked at her neck and noticed her golden locket. He took his hand out of Chiaki's hand and held the golden locket in his hands while trying to make sure not to break it. He gazed at the gold locket with his matching gold eyes.
"This is my locket. A picture of my family is in here. See?" Chiaki told him and opened up her locket. It revealed her little picture of her, Kojiro, Shinji and Nobu. Tajin was captivated and continued looking at it.
"That's my husband, Kojiro. These are my two sons. Shinji and Nobu" Chiaki told him. She pointed to Kojiro, who was next to her. She referred to the black haired boy as Nobu, and the boy who looked a lot like Tajin was Shinji. Tajin decided to stop looking at the locket and closed it and let it go. He then looked up at Chiaki again.
"Where...are they? I'd...like to meet them, please..." Tajin said. But Chiaki became sad when he said that. Tajin noticed tears forming in Chiaki's eyes. Tajin looked sad right when he saw them.
"What's wrong? Why are you...?" Tajin asked.
"Kojiro-san...he left me and took Nobu away. Shinji...he died" Chiaki replied in a sad tone. Tajin became surprised.
Chiaki then decided to explain what happened to her and her family. Chiaki was about to leave to go shopping when she saw her friend across the street. Chiaki was so overjoyed that she didn't look both ways to see if a car was coming. Shinji, witnessing this, immediately ran to save her. He valiantly pushed her away from an oncoming truck. Chiaki was safe.
But Shinji...died in the process.
He had suffered severe head trauma after being hit and falling head first onto the concrete. Chiaki was heartbroken by his death while Kojiro just stood in front of a puddle of blood while holding a test tube with a strange, red liquid (which was unknown). A few days later, she was suddenly accused of kidnapping, child abuse and child endangerment for no good reason. Since the police had no clear evidence, she was free to go. After that, Kojiro screamed at her, blaming her for Shinji's death and calling her a traitor. He stormed out of the house, taking Nobu away against his will. Since then, Chiaki had been alone except for when she began dating Gouda Yukitaka.
Tajin was heartbroken and sad by Chiaki's story.
"I...I know it's my fault. I should've looked both ways before crossing the street! I...I miss Shinji and Nobu...Kojiro never told me where he went. He left his car here, so..." Chiaki said as tears began to stroll down her face. Tajin's hand slowly went up to Chiaki's face and his finger gently rubbed against the bottom of her eye to dry the tears away. Chiaki noticed this.
"Don't...don't cry. It's not...your fault" Tajin told her. Chiaki decided to dry herself off and slowly move Tajin's hand from her face.
"Maybe...it was a mistake. Maybe...Kojiro-san mistook you for the wrong person...about the crimes" Tajin said.
"You may be right, but I'd never do those horrible things. There was no good evidence, so they let me go. I'm alone now. No husband, no children, I have only distant memories..." Chiaki whispered. Tajin felt bad for her. She was falsely accused of crimes she didn't commit, and her ex-husband took her living son away. Tajin clenched his fist and his eyes became courageous. He looked up at her with his courageous expression on his face.
"Chiaki-san! How...how about...I be your kid?" Tajin said as he smacked his chest. Chiaki became shocked.
"T-Tajin...! I...I don't think that's...a good idea" Chiaki said.
"No! Your husband thinks it's your fault that Shinji-san died when in actuality, it isn't! He took your living son away! You've been falsely accused for crimes you didn't commit! You went through so much suffering and sadness! You saved me and I want to owe you my thanks. I won't have you suffer anymore! Do you want those people to treat you like that?" Tajin explained with pride and courage. He was quite serious with what he said. No, he WAS serious. Chiaki was shocked to hear those words from a child who barely spoke when she saved him. Chiaki smiled and cried again, this time she was shedding tears of joy.
"You want to be my foster son? Alright. I do not want to be lonely. I'll take good care of you and protect you from harm! I'll have to prepare some things for you to do too! From now on, you are officially known as Fujioka Tajin!" Chiaki said happily and hugged Tajin. The boy smiled happily, since he didn't smile before. The two are now in a happy embrace as Chiaki has found herself a new child to raise as her own, even though this boy is not blood-related to her.
