It started out small, feeling exhausted for a second here, bruises that stayed forever that had to be covered with cover up, Bleeding too much from a little scratch, so on. But then it got bigger, and bigger, and bigger.
“Hello New York! What’s up?” I screamed to the crowd, who just screamed back in response, “Are you ready to rock tonight?” They screamed.
“One, two three.” My drummer counted, then started playing, and we all rocked out, while I started doing the choreography.
“Kick, Between, Jump, run, walk” I said to myself as I sang “My Life” my #1 hit single. I looked out at the crowd, seeing the bright spot light, and the flashes of cameras. Then, suddenly, it all went black.

“Oh my god, is she okay?”
“What happened!?”
“Someone call 911!”
“Oh my god! What happened to her!?” Everyone was talking.
“Let me through! I'm her mother!” Laraine walked through the crowd, surrounded by security guards who cleared the way. She hopped on the stage and walked up to the still body of her daughter. “Someone call 911.”
“Already done ma'am.” replied a burly security guard.
“Okay. Everyone, move away, give her some air.” The paramedics came rushing in and onto the stage. They put Alicia on a stretcher, and Lalaine followed.
“Hey Dylan! End the show!” Lalaine shouted to Alicia's drummer.
“Will do Mrs.Sanchez!” She shouted back, saluting.
Alicia was put in an ambulance with her mother following. Lalaine held Alicia's hand.
“Oh Alicia, please stay alive.” She whispered, tears beginning to stream down her cheeks.

They arrived at the hospital, where Alicia was immediatley carted into a room, while Lalaine sat in the white, shiny waiting room, worrying. She called Lisa, Eddy, Alicia's dad, and Jesse, Alicia's boyfriend. About an hour later, Lisa and Eddy rushed in from Massachusetts, where they all lived. Jesse raced in from Pennsylvania about an hour later. After 3 hours there was still no news. Lalaine went up to the desk and asked what was happening to Alicia. Eddy, Lisa and Jesse watched anxiously. The nurse shook her head. Lalaine returned to her seat, disheartened. about half an hour later, a tall, dark haired man stuck his head outside of the doors.
“Alicia Sanchez?” he asked. Alicia's friends and family looked up.
“Yes?” Lalaine replied.
“This way please.” They followed him into and office. “Hello. please sit.” They all sat down tentatively. “My name is Dr.Block I have a few questions to ask you before I tell you what I think is happening. First, was Alicia in any car crash recentley?” The four exchanged glances.
“Um, yes,” Lalaine answered, a puzzled look on her face, ”She was in a car crash in June, (It's September now.) she fell into a ditch in California.” Dr.Block nodded his head.
“Has she been feeling very tired? Or any long lasting bruises? Or little cuts bleeding to much?”
“Um, yes, actually.” Lalaine replied, starting to look a little shocked.
“Okay, yes, that's what I thought.” he said to himself. “Well,” he said to the group, “I'm diagnosing her with California Ant Bacteria Cancer. (I just made the name up) “ Lalaine looked absolutely shocked. “It's a very rare cancer that is caused by the bacteria that is in that ditch. It takes at least two months before it can even begin to be detected.”
“Alicia has cancer?” Lisa asked, horrified.
“Yes, she does. She will need to have chemotherapy, to try and help with the medicine she will be taking. She will not need to stay in the hospital but she will need to play it easy. No running, exertions, anything that will cause her to be nervous or make her exert to much energy.”
“But she’s a singer and actress! She has concerts, interviews, TV shows, movies, she has to do them!” Lalaine said in a “duh” voice.
“I know. I’m very sorry. But otherwise it will trigger the cancer and things like this will happen. I’ll leave and give you a moment. You can visit her when your done, she’s in the room next door.” Dr. Block stood up and left.
“What’s going to happen to her? Is she going to like, never perform again?” Lisa asked, worry etched clearly on her face.
“Let’s just go and talk to her.” Jesse said, got up, and lead the way out.
They went into the room, where they saw Dr.Block telling Alicia what she had. Tears were streaming down her cheeks and she was talking desperately, trying to get him to let her perform. Dr.Block saw the group and got up and left. Jesse went to Alicia and gave her a hug.
“He said that I can’t perform! He said that this is going to happen again if I perform! I can’t stop performing! It’s my life!” She cried, sobbing into Jesse's shoulder. He stroked her hair.
“It’ll be alright. Don’t worry.” He softly whispered into her ear.
“No it won’t! I’m going to die.” She said pushing away from him. Lisa started hugging her.
“Well, at least you’re going to get to see Kirstin, and everyone from Massachusetts.” Lisa said, trying to console her, “Remember how much you wanted to see them?”
“Yeah, but I’m going to see them for the wrong reasons! I’ll be seeing them because I’m dying!” She pushed away from Lisa too and went towards her mom instead. Pretty much the same thing happened too, her mom said something that made her cry harder, and she went to her dad, who was always able to put a smile on her face. HE whispered words in her ear and she nodded and eventually stopped crying.
“I'm gonna go see if we can get you out of here. Okay?” He asked, getting up from the bed and walking out. She nodded. He returned a few minutes later, with a nurse in tow, who was pushing a wheel chair. “We can go, you just have to go to a hospital for a checkup every week, it doesn't matter what hospital, they'll share records with every hospital in the country! Isn't that great? Okay, let's go. Alicia stood up, slowly went into the bathroom, and changed back into the clothes she had been wearing for the concert.
“Okay, ready to go.” She picked up her purse, and started walking to the door and nearly fell, Jesse catching her just in time. He lead her to the wheelchair, while she grumbled the whole time.
“Hey, it's for a short time.” She just grumbled. The nurse pushed her out of the room, and out of the hospital But they didn't know what was waiting for them there . . .
They walked out, and to their surprise . . .
“Alicia! Alicia! Look over here!”
“Alicia, is it true that you're on drugs?'
“Alicia, is it true that you're suffering from leukemia?”
“Alicia, what happened?”
They were bombarded by paparazzi. Alicia's dad took over the wheel chair and ran to the car, wheeling Alicia all the way there.
“Wheeee!” She squeeled, laughing. Jesse helped Eddy pick her up and put her in Jesse's car. Jesse ran back with the wheelchair and then returned, put the key in the ignition, and threw Alicia his phone.
“Tell your dad that I'll drive you home.” he told her.
“Okay!” She dialed her dad's cell phone number into the hone. “Hi dad! Yeah, Jesse's gonna drive me home, yes dad, I know, Lisa's with us! We can't do anything. ugh, see you at home, love you!” She hung up the phone and shook her head. “My dad thought that we were going to run off somewhere! Goshes, can't he trust me? But I told him Lisa was here, which, she is.” she said nodding towards Lisa. They drove down the highway towards Massachusetts, singing to the radio and laughing the whole time. An hour later, they heard a story about Alicia's concert. “Hey Jesse, turn it up! I want to hear! It's about me!” Jesse turned the radio up.
“Alicia Sanchez has left fans across the country worrying. After falling in the middle of singing My Life, her #1 hit single, at a concert in New York, she was rushed to the hospital, where she was held for 4 hours. When she came outside however, it sounded like she was having the time of her life being wheeled out side. Did she fall for the attention? Or is the singer singing her way out of her career?” When the newscater ended her esegment and they started playing songs again, the car was siletn, Alicia put her head against the window, a tear streaming down her cheek. Lisa and Jesse exchanged a look.
Ten minutes later, the familiar beat of “Sexyback” by Justin Timberlake came onto the radio. Jesse pretended to be Justin, going all out as much as he could without crashing the car.
“I'm bringing sexyback! Yeah!” He sang. Alicia looked up and watched him. She started giggleing, then started cracking up.
“Jesse,as much as I know you try to bring sexy back, you don't.” Alicia said jokingly.
“Oooooh, burn!” exclaimed.
“Ouch.” Jesse said in a hurt voice, “That hurt Licia.” He put a hand over his heart.
“But you'll always bring sexy to me.” She said, and leaned up to the front of the car and gave jesse a kiss on the cheek. He smiled and turned off the highway , and into the town of Acton-Boxborough. (That's two real towns, who go to the same high school, but let's pretend it's one town. My friend lives in one of those towns.) They parked in front of Alicia's house.
“It's good to be home.” she said to herself. Her parent's car pulled up. Lalaine ran up the steps and into the house, and returned with a wheelchair. Eddy and Jesse helped Alicia in, and Jesse wheeled her in through the garage. “It's a good thing we have elevators.” Alicia told her dad. Outside, it was getting dark. Alicia went to her room, and Lisa and Lalaine helped her with her pjs. Alicia got in bed and immediatley fell asleep thinking about how much she loved being home. Boy was she going to regret that thought the next day.
