Okay, so maybe I wanted to update sooner. It’s not like I have many fans anyways to get me my few reviews. Even though I send them almost three for the same chapter and I still give them that extra PM afterward when I really want them to hurry up with the story. So I’ll just continue and hope for the best that other people will review in the future.
After school ended, Adelaide headed to the high school where the musical was going to be played during the last two weeks of March.
Adelaide walked in through the back door of the student center and got so anxious that she began to think of Nicholas. I wonder if Nicholas is here today? Oh! He’s so dreamy with his dark brown hair, piercing eyes that never seem to have emotion except when he’s singing and those wonderfully full li…
Evan Noble, a boy from the high school, made full crash course into Adelaide as she was in LaLaLand.
“Oh! Sorry Adelaide! Didn’t see you there. I was just running from Nicholas to hide his Reese’s pieces from him. You know how it is though. It’s his life. That’s why. And because they are an eight pack which will definitely get him mad.” He smiled at that.
“Who gave him the Reese’s anyway?” asked Adelaide as she tried to figure out if he brought them from home or if one of the girls (please let it NOT be it!) had bought them for him.
“Emily did. It was a surprise for him and he went of the top in a good way.”
Emily! Please let she not be his girlfriend! I just wanted to know, are they dating? Because to me, well, they seem as if they are.”
“Oh no! Nicholas is dating Anne. Didn’t you know that?”
Ohfuckogfuckohfuck! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
“Since when were they together?”
“I think it was since the beginning of January. Oh, crap. I gotta go now. I hear Nicholas coming back here. Bye!”
With that, all of Adelaide’s hopes of ever having Nicholas were gone. Why her? I mean sure, she has a big part, by why the madwoman?! Why did he have to pick the girl who was playing the madwoman of the musical? It’s not fair! That bitch! I’ll kill her one day! Okay, maybe not that drastically. I just need to move on! Maybe I can even…
Crashed into. Again.
“What the fuck!” yelled Adelaide as she turned around. She shocked herself when she met the darkest eyes ever to set upon her and capture her since the beginning.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to bump into you like that. I was just chasing after Noble so that he can give me back my Reese’s.” Nicholas (or “Taco” or “Ritacco” as people liked to call him instead of Nicholas because there was another Nicholas in the musical) smiled as if it were only for her.
Adelaide couldn’t breathe fast enough to speak anything. She reclaimed her breath though just on time and said, “Oh! Don’t worry about it!” (I’m only dying because you have a girlfriend and I didn’t know anything about it!) I was just headed to the front anyways. Do you know if Padre (principle. School was catholic with priests who wore monk-like outfits) is over there? That way I know to avoid the front and his yelling his head off?”
“Pfft! He’s not over there so you shouldn’t worry.”
“Is Coccaro (Senior at the High School and one of Adelaide’s worst enemies) there?”
“Why would you want to know if he’s over there? You don’t like him…do you?”
“Eww! Gross no! I definitely do not like him! He is the most selfish and worthless brat I have ever had the unfortunate luck to have ever met!”
“Oh!” The corners of his mouth rose ever so slightly that Adelaide didn’t know if she had seen or imagined it.
“Anyways, if you’re looking for Noble, I suggest you look in the steam room. He hid in there so you wouldn’t find him.”
“Thanks Adelaide.” As he was walking away to the steam room, Nicholas turned back and said, “You’re pretty cool… When you’re not swearing.”
Oh my fucking go..gosh! I forget I can’t use the Lord’s name in vain. Oh shit! Why me?! Maybe Andrew Sammond is still open for catching? Mmmmmm…. He is so fine looking! Mother: Japanese. Father: American- and blonde! Though that dirty blonde that looks well on him- for an old guy.
Why me? I only ever try falling in love with good-looking guys, but they are either taken- or they don’t think of me as a person to ever like like that way.
First it was Carlos Lopez. Kindergarden. He was so cool in his dark blue cast with lots of signatures and get-wells on it. Supposedly he was playing football. He looked old enough to do so. He had dark and spiky hair. He had dark eyes with eyebrows that accentuated his eyes to shine brighter. You could imagine him on a football team or a basketball team and making that winning point. Wow! That only lasted until fifth grade when he had to leave the next year to a different school. Though, he found out from his friends, don’t know whom, that I had liked him and he asked me over and over again if the rumors were true and I did say I had liked him.
In sixth grade, it was Esteban Ortiz. A seventh grader. Dark skin, dark eyes (everyone probably thinks I’m weird for only liking dark eyed boys- though I think it’s normal because I feel hypnotized watching them). Small, almost shaved off hair. Black hair color too.
Though, he found out that I liked him about the last week before Christmas break off that very same year. Last period. Language Arts. Everyone was cutting out little doves and bells and all that stuff. Anyways, everyone was guessing as to whom they liked. Though, me and my big mouth don’t actually see eye to eye. I said, “I bet you don’t know who I like. If you don’t guess within five guesses as to who in this class I like, that will be a mystery forever.” With that, the girls surrounding my table began picking out names from the class: Richard, Matthew, Javier, Daniel, Esteban…
I was probably mental when I said you got it. They kept it up with the names until it sunk in as to whom was the mystery boy of my dreams. The weird things is though, that to my left, three desks down on one of the computers facing the opposite direction from the table I was in (facing the window) Melissa, another seventh grader and one of Esteban’s best friends, got up and walked to Esteban with a smirk on her face. I saw her whispering in Esteban’s ear and knew then and there that she had ratted me out.
Esteban made a shocked face while looking at the computer before turning my way. Like a coward, I turned to my right and faced a girl in my grade- Brenda, and said, “So, what you doing?”
My face was a cherry the entire class time. Meanwhile, the word was spreading like wildfire- the Nerd (my nickname that I sometimes wear with pride) was in love with Esteban!
I faced my fears and by the end of the day, I was running to get my book bag to get a good seat on the bus while trying to keep some dignity. No one from my class said anything until another girl from sixth grade- Bianca, said, “I’ll tell everyone who passes out the school doors that you like Esteban!”
I, in return said, “Go ahead. I infinity dog dare you to do that!” Still mental though because the need for it to be told was so great that I really wanted her to yell to everyone what I had kept secret. So that a burden would be lifted off my shoulders and let me fly again in peace.
That entire week was Heaven. The next morning, after the bus arrived to drop the middle schoolers off at the bus room to wait until the other students could be picked up and taken to the middle school. I sat as far as I could away from Esteban so that temptation wouldn’t rise in my head to want to look at him. He sat on the row under the windows where he could face the door opposite and on his left hand. I was on his right, around the middle of the room; at the head of the table so I could keep a good look on him- I liked staring at him from time to time (not like a stalker). All of a sudden, he moved three seats over to his right- yet still on the row under the windows. I thought, Hey! Maybe it’s nothing! I’m just about to hyperventilate for nothing! Heh! Thinking it was nothing, I left the table to go to the washroom and a quick sip of water. When I got back- OH SHIT! HOLY MOTHER OF A HUMPING COW! OH MY GOSH! He was sitting behind my chair! At the head of the table! On the row of chairs aligning behind my chair! He was right there! Staring at ME! ME! I got so bubbly that I rushed to my chair and slumped on the table to put my head on the desk. A girl from my grade, yet not my class room- Alexis- said that he staring at me still, yet so quietly that only I could hear.
I was so giddy with anxiety, anxiousness, worry, happiness, lust- and I hadn’t ever known such a feeling before, so it was completely new to me- that I couldn’t take it and tried to fall asleep and everyone knows how feet tend to move under the chair to be a little more comfortable and after a minute, a certain person’s foot began stroking the soles of my shoe. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! OH MY FUCKING HUMPING MONKEY!!! HE’S TOUCHING ME! HE’S LIKE FREAKIN’ STROKING MY FOOT!
Picking up my head, I looked at Esteban and he had a carefree and casual look. As if he wasn’t moving discreetly his foot up and down the bottom of my shoe. Next to him though, was one of my enemies: Octavio- eighth grader and one of my torturers. He was just sitting there too. Resting. I wanted to punch him so bad for being the one to sit next to Esteban.
After that, things calmed… marginally.
I wasn’t in the IN-crowd, so I had no idea that he had a girlfriend until Valentine’s Day! The SLIMY PIECE OF SHIT! His girlfriend had made the largest scene because he broke up with her on Valentines day and she ripped from her neck the necklace he had given her and tried to break it- it was the cheap kind of zirconium and fake gold that when she kept trying to crush the darn thing under her foot, it wouldn’t. HAH! She stompt off to another table in breakfast and stopped talking to him for a few days before she started talking to him again as if he was like any other guy. WHAT THE FUCK?!
There wasn’t anyone else after Esteban graduated and left for a different school.
Nobody could hold my attention for long. Until the musical was mentioned by my aunt (not really an aunt but is considered one) and I jumped at the chance to be a star. About two weeks later, I was told I had to sing Copacabana. The week before I was sing the song for rehearsals, I was told I had to sing a song from Fiddler on the Roof and that blew me off the top by how I wasn’t told sooner. The day BEFORE I was to sing for rehearsals, I get another call saying that the musical was changed yet again to Blood Brothers. Oh my gosh! I thought I would die! Fortunately, my aunt is Head of Discipline at the school and I didn’t worry too much about having the wrong song. The director took anyone in, even if they had the wrong song lyrics due to the constant change of musicals.
That’s when I saw him. Ritacco. He came into the student center where the rehearsals were and at first I didn’t have a crush on him because he was so new to me- and because I didn’t want to turn red in front of my mom and aunt who were in front of me.
I was introduced to Ritacco as Mrs. Cahue’s niece. Joe Pasquinelli, and Nicholas Ritacco. They were a pair of normal sophomores to me. Nothing special to worry about. Nicholas sat at a table close to the director and asked if playing a fiddle was necessary for Fiddler on the Roof. Mr. Taylor, the director, said it would have been great, but it wasn’t necessary since the play had been changed to Blood Brothers
After Ritacco’s question, I was asked to step out into a classroom right outside the Student Center so that I would sing my piece. I forgot a bit in the beginning and was given a chance to a redo. On the second try, I was accepted with flying colors.
Nicholas and Joe had left by the time I returned and I went home to bask in my victory over taking a part in a musical that other females couldn’t have because they didn’t sign up. So hilarious! The weird thing was that-
“Oh!” Adelaide was patted on the head by Drew as he passed by muttering about how you should never take away a man’s- mostly Nicholas’-Recees.
“Hey! Drew! Do you know if ‘Taco smashed Noble’s head for taking his weakness yet?”
“Uh, not really. They’re mostly rolling around on the floor trying to keep the other from getting to the Recees. It’s really funny actually. They’re out in front right now if you want to see it,” and he offered a smile that said volumes on how ridiculous the scene probably was.
“No thanks. If I want to see a brawl, I might as well watch old western tavern movies, or boxing matches.”
“Sure. Sure. I gotta go now. I want to buy some McDonald’s a block away. Want anything you can pay for?”
“Haha! No I don’t because I got some food of my own.”
“Alright. See you in ten minutes!”
“Later!”
Adelaide walked to the girl’s bathroom to check if any girl made it yet. None were there though. After making sure, Adelaide jogged to the front of the stage and still found not a single girl there.
Looking around, she spotted Thomas Roberson. A great guy who works hard to do great in school, and the first high schooler to talk to me… even though it was almost halfway through the first day that he even said a thing. After that, every other person talked to me and I talked back. It was great really. I’ve been thankful to him since then and have tried to repay his kindness with small things, like offering him some food I bought, or getting him a coke, or helping him finish his homework- though I do that because it gets boring listening to Padre yell at people to be quiet and because I want to do something that requires thinking and writing.
Silently creeping up to the table, Adelaide sucked in a long breath so that she could scare Thomas when he said, ”I know you’re there behind me. You might as well just let the air go out.”
Blowing out the air, Adelaide was shocked as to all the air she had sucked in.
“How in devil’s name did you know it me?”
“Oh! I thought it was Christian behind me. He keeps creeping up on me when I least expect it.”
Turning around to face Adelaide, Thomas gave a smile and she wondered at how she could ever complain about him. Unlike Coccaro- that was biggest problem she had to deal with. Speak of the devil though, and the devil you shall get.
Michael Miles-Coccaro. Adelaide’s worst enemy and dumb-ass senior in the high school. They’ve been like that (jerks to one another) since Coccaro bossed around Adelaide and like hot temper that runs through her veins, Adelaide didn’t retaliate like the eighth grader she was. She went all out and a fistfight would have ensued if it weren’t for the luck of the musical that it was Adelaide’s time to get on stage to do her part.
After that, the only contact between them would be insults secretly placed into sentences that would mean little if there wasn’t a person who knew the war between the two.
“Good afternoon child,” (insult to the age today huh?)
“Good afternoon Coccaro. How was pre-school- I mean, how was high school toady?” (Take that moron)
“Oh, just fine. Perky. One of the teachers is afraid of me because of a play I was in where I was a murderer and now she thinks that I might kill her if I don’t think she is nice to me.” (Oh hell no! He is threatening me! I can’t back out now! Time for Adelaide- bitch of the world and queen of the ice queens!)
“Well must be swell. Did you know that boasting is considered really bad and could send you to hell? Oh, and shove it up your ass. I really don’t care if a teacher is scared of you or not. Fight when you have an advantage jerk. You might have been here for four years- but it only seems as if you’re here with pre-schoolers on a field trip to see how well behaved high schoolers are. So far, the only high schooler with in eye range to prove himself is Thomas here. So if I were you, I turn right back around and hump a ho. Oh! Wait a second there. You can’t even get a ho. Plus, it’s very un-marines like to be arguing with a little girl. Bye now!”
Sitting in the seat next to Thomas, Adelaide ignored Coccaro’s eyes filled with fury at having been beaten at his own game. He stomped away knowing that if he had said anything else, he would have been made a fool of for continuing a battle of insults against a little girl who was ignoring him completely.
“That was harsh- as always. Adelaide, why can’t you and Coccaro just get along?”
“Because, if that were happen, I would have been proven to be a weakling. I will tolerate that in any manner. Plus, I not the type of girl who retaliates when the going get rough. I can’t be.”
“Just make sure you don’t get hurt. I know how he is. He’ll go to punches if he needs to.”
“I know.”
Great job Adelaide. You’re becoming smarter each day. I can’t have you too smart though. When we are together, now one will dare stop us. I have to gain your trust. I will get it. When I do, I will become master of al darkness and lead the war from the side of darkness to the unchangeable victory that will come of your powers.
Nicholas walked away from the floor length curtain he had been hiding behind and into the empty boy’s bathroom and burst into flame- sending him to his home in the underworld.
What is Adelaide doing at a high school? Should she not be at home studying for the Constitution test that counts for half her grade? Zechariah thought back to what he had learned about Adelaide and remembered that she had signed for auditions in a play that kept changing at great speeds that became quite confusing until being settled on one in particular. Well, how will I make sure to be able to have enough time to tell her everything that had happened since she was taken away nearly fifteen years ago? Should I come in as a high schooler? Should I join her in junior high? Which will she expect me to be to get her to understand clearly in a fast amount of time so that when the battle comes back to surface again, can she be ready to fight against those who wish her harm? Which is the road that will get me faster to her understanding?
From what I have learned, she is as stubborn as a crossbreed between a troll and an ogre- taking all characteristics of the ogre of course. At least the troll is more genteel. Well, it goes to show that there are some things that can’t be changed when it runs in the blood of a warrior and spell caster- being, that the mother was a warrior- Commander of all the forces- and the father is leader of all the spell casters for over fifteen years for the most part. Surprising though, how both never wanted to have another child after Adelaide was kidnapped because they thought it would be wrong to try and erase the memory of their first-born daughter by having another and still find Adelaide again.
If more families were like that- I believe the family rivalry would surely end and there would be more land to distribute among the children that were born. I believe that even if Adelaide did not fully accept them, they would still try to make her happy until she could have relative comfort around them. I know I would do the same. Master Sol raised me to do the same. He would expect it of me.
Oh Adelaide! What is it about you that gets me so confused? Is it because of your youth? Is it because of your maturity to handle situations and never back down? Is it because you strive to do what others consider impossible your age? Is it because you plan like a genius in disguise as a conniving bitch to show the world that you can choose to fail or win? Or is it you are so powerful that I just want to have the credit?- Okay, so that last one isn’t true-totally. I need a sign. WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW!!!
Oh, Great Powers That Be! What do I do now? I am very confused and being here doesn’t help. Zechariah stared dejectedly at the sky and that when it hit him- literally. A ball flew out of nowhere and whacked him so hard he fell unconscious. You would think he had suffered worse since fighting demons tends to leave you as burnt as a smore marshmallow.
Adelaide had watched as a stray ball from the baseball players hit a kid on the head in the reserved parking lot of the school. Adelaide was only taking a breath of fresh air when the ball had struck. Immediately she ran to see if the guy was alright, seeing as he looked as if he had fainted. It was both amusing and disturbing to see the stranger’s head lolling out the open window with most likely a bruise the size of Mt. Olympus. Also, the guy was currently bleeding and Adelaide couldn’t just let him bleed on this cold afternoon.
Up close, the guy was absolutely gorgeous. A hunk from hell was what Adelaide thought when she was standing over him. She checked for a pulse. Good so far. All the baseball players had surrounded the stranger once Adelaide opened a portable tissue pack she carried in her coat pocket in case she should ever need it so that she could wipe the blood on the bruise.
“Is he okay?” asked the dummy who had hit the ball.
“We should call for help,” said another. Half the team rushed into the Athletic Center so that a teacher could be called and a cell to be produced in case the ambulance was needed.
Padre, the principle of the school came rushing after the players. His monk-like clothing flapped in the wind like a fruit bat’s wings. The man wasn’t even a monk though. Stepping aside, Adelaide watched Padre check for a pulse and open his car to give the guy some room.
”Who found this boy like this kids?” asked Padre as he searched the faces of all those there.
“I did,” responded Adelaide timidly.
“Tell me what happened.”
“I don’t know exactly. I just came out to get a breather and the next second a stray ball zooms at him and he’s knocked out flat. Then he starts bleeding.”
“Does anybody know this boy?” This is directed to everybody.
Somehow, Adelaide acted from instinct she never had and said, “Zechariah.” This came as a surprise to her seeing as she had never laid eyes on the stranger before this accident.
“You will come with me then when we take him to a hospital. He might have a blood clot. Someone, call an ambulance immediately, and tell the other teachers that Adelaide will be coming with me.”
Ritacco looked on in both amusement and fury at having Zechariah get a hold of Adelaide’s attention. Plans would have to be made much sooner and much faster in order to conquer the young girl’s will and powers. Having made his decision, Ritacco left the practice with an excuse of having the stomach flu- Devil knew that he had used it so many times but his good looks that would shift to instant cutie-pie. Worked every time so that he could come and go as Master Cloud ordered. Plus, he could then find the answers to tests and summon them to the test as if he had answered them (that, or he could pause time for short periods that worked just as well).
Interesting. If that child has the attention and concentration of those two fools, maybe then my plans can go faster as both will not notice. Ah well. I should leave as well. Places to go. Lives to take. Fates and destinies to seal the return of Evil to ultimate power.

So, I would like to thank ihrtbks; My Deepest Regret who changed her name to Black Wings, Red Tears; and No Ordinary Girl for reviewing. I appreciate it.
