Why did he seem all of a sudden distant? Was it the note on the poster? If so, he had completely misinterpreted it. She needed to make this right. After all; he was her boyfriend. She saw Kiwi running down the hall and stopped him.

“Kiwi!” she said, her musical voice filled with fear, uncertainty. Kiwi turned around to face her. “Hey, have you seen (his name)?” she asked him.

“Um, the piano room?” he said, it was more of a question than a straight response. She turned and headed towards the piano room. She passed many music rooms, the drums echoed through the halls, the saxophone buzzed though her head, the guitars strummed her thoughts, the singing sounded like an angels chorus. She ran down the hall, almost certain she could hear a piano being played; but it didn’t sound like something he would play. She reached the piano room and gently opened the door in case it was Sloan that was playing the piano instead of (his name). She cracked open the door, the music had stopped before she got to the door. She saw the back of his head. She opened the door the whole way, letting it bang against the wall. She showed she was mad, and had no problem showing that she was.

“(his name), I don’t know what’s wrong, but-” she cut herself off at the sight of what she walked in to. (his name) had turned around when he heard the door bang against the wall. Now she could hear the echo of the bang, everything had gotten quiet. Heads poked out of now open doors. Rachel stood there, staring at her, smirking. She knew they had just been kissing, she saw them; he couldn’t say that they hadn’t been.

“Wait, I can explain!” he said quickly.

“Yea, you better start; fast.” She said with some attitude. When he choked on his words, she turned and ran. She ran like she had never run before, not speed really, but she ran like that of the exiled, she ran ashamed, not of (his name), but of herself, for believing that she really had a chance being with him. He caught her, and she turned quickly to make him let go. She didn’t want to be touched, especially by him. She ran to her dorm, she threw clothes back into her bags, preparing to leave, preparing to forget about this whole place. She knew that Loran would love her to stay, but she couldn’t; not after what she just saw. That’s why he was distant. That was what was wrong. She finally understood. She couldn’t accept it, but she understood. He appeared in her doorway. She ignored him.

“I can explain! You don’t understand! I didn’t think she would do anything, she just wanted to talk! I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal!” she gave him a venomous look. “No! That came out wrong! I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal that we were talking.” He told her hurriedly; for the first time, she didn’t care.

“Yea, you must have thought I was stupid too.” she said looking at him. “I went in there hoping to find you so that I could see why you were so distant this afternoon. Why you decided to completely avoid me. But now I know, and I can’t ever get that picture out of my head now. It’ll always be there, do you know how much that hurts?!” she yelled at him. She was a good foot shorter than him, but she could tell he was scared of what she might do.

“No, I don’t think you’re stupid.” He stated quietly. She laughed mockingly at him. “The reason I was ‘avoiding’ you, as you put it, is because I have a surprise for you. That is, if you still want it.” He asked.

“No (his name)! Don’t even joke about this! You can’t use that, ‘oh-I’m-still-crazy-for-you’ routine!” she said.

“Loran did so much work for you to be able to come here. And now you’re just going to throw it away and leave because of me? So that means that I mean more to you than her, doesn’t it? Because if Loran could have her way, she would make you stay.” He said, digging deep, hoping to get a second chance.

“Don’t you dare bring Loran into this!” She yelled at him. She knew he was right though, Loran had sent that DVD that actually let the musicians know she was interested in going .
