A/N: This part was originally posted on my blog on myspace as it was part of a fanfic (The Reflection in the Dark set in the Yu-Gi-Oh universe) that I wrote and had posted on However, I got frustrated with myself for it and deleted it. But I still cannot tear myself away from this part of it which can stand on its own as an original piece.

Take 13: Chaos

The woman sighed softly on the bench of the park. She stared at the large sketchbook lying on her knees. Random people that walked by her would comment on how beautiful the picture was. However, the artist herself could not find anything right with the picture.

Why was she wasting her time doing this? Far more people have already surpassed her causing the work before her to be compared to that of a stick figure. Still there was that hope…that someone would tell her something was right with it then eagerly point out the flaws.

It was useless! In her anger, the sketchbook was tossed across the park and landed in the pond. The sketchbook failed to disappear from existence as it floated on top of the water and her face reflected that. Tears strolled down from normal stoic eyes and she was unable to hide her face behind her long hair. For living within the dark so long, she was shoved towards the light.

Then she was confronted with reality, not the land of her dreams where she soared endlessly in the clouds. Where was that hand that once extended itself for salvation? Alone...she was alone. No one would come for her. No one else would care.

Trapped inside a world that threatened to drown her in a wave of emotions. The sketchbook fell down to the depths of the pond suddenly as the woman walked away leaving all of her happiness, dreams, and hopes behind.

Just another broken memory to be added to a fallen creature. a creature that dwelled in the night with shining brown eyes piercing through it. Those eyes looked so old but yet she was still so young. Reality had caused her to become many years older and on one else could understand. No one would use their blind eyes to unveil the facade she created. A facade that gave no answers, reasons, or submission.

Another figure turned to leave as well after watching the sketchbook sink. His blond hair reflected the sun's light and caused the woman to walk even faster. She wanted to forget about ever seeing the light. Sometimes ignorance was bliss.
