The Mythic Lolita

She fancies herself a young Lolita,
if only because she will never read
these tragedies, birthed more fully into the world
than the half-finished
words of our lives.
There is no such creature,
for Lolita is much too sparrow-boned
to shrink further into an embryonic falsity
gleaming hotly in a rewound womb.

I heard some news anchor a while ago call someone "a young Lolita", and, being the Russian literature freak that I am, laughed hysterically-- to be a young Lolita would be impossible, because, well, it's ridiculously redundant. I suppose it resurfaced here. :) Bella
