rainbow boxes

it was lunch time under the gloomy sky,
i had a box of pancakes, bathed in maple syrup.
you raised your head slightly,
glancing over to my box in clear interest.

it was lunch time under the growling clouds,
you had a box of luscious apple pies.
i raised my head slightly,
glancing over to your box in clear interest.

then you said as you pointed to my box “i want those!”
then i said as i pointed to your box “i want those!”
and we exchanged glances, baffled.
and we blinked, perplexed.

it was lunch time under the sunbeams,
we decided to share our meals together
instead of demanding for more.
we decided to share instead of being egoistic.

then you said as you ate my pancakes “delicious!”
then i said as i ate your apple pies “delicious!”
and we exchanged glances, grinning.
and we bit our lips, snorting.

“they taste better if they’re mixed!
taste better if we share everything together!”
we said, in rather idiotic tones.

and we laughed together
until our stomach hurt,
until we cried,
until there was nothing left in the boxes.
