Epitaph for Aibrean O’Kane

I was only 16 when I died,

But I had lived a dozen lives.

I lived the life of an artist,

Though nobody knew my talent.

I lived as a beautiful girl,

But it was too hard to tell.

I lived as a writer,

Writing to an army of blind angels.

I lived as a chef,

But had no one to cook for.

I lived as an actress,

With no boundaries in life and lie.

I lived as an adventuress,

But never left my room.

I lived for you, my dear,

But you never knew.

If these are my final words,

I walked the lives of others,

Of dead characters,

And hidden masters.

I rest now the way I lived,

With all my love intact,

Safe, afraid, and dead of heart,

But with you in my final thoughts.
