Fading Christmas cards fall

In pieces from the attic door

Just like snow falling on a lonely night.

Sad and disturbing how time

Smears familiar faces into smudged,

Blurred memories across ragged-edged paper.

Old photos of her locked away,

Almost forever hidden.

Blow the dust off of the past.

It’s okay.

She won’t leave scars deep in your arms for long.

The memories leave her mark a secret in time.

It’s safe to move on and run free from faith.

It was taken.

Stolen away.

You can run now.

Just run.
