You say let go,

I say no.

I look at your picture

And my heart starts to break

Because that person in the picture is gone

Only a shell remains

You say let go,

I say no.

I ask myself why I loved you

And I remember, that I just did

That the reason doesn't matter

It only matters that I did

You say let go,

I say no.

You wonder why I can't forgive

I say it's because you were my first

My first to love, with all my heart

The first to break me apart

You say let go,

I say no.

I almost died because of you,

That alone is reason enough.

But you go on as if it never was

Just like you always have

You say let go,

I say no.

I think back and I question,

What I said in this first verse

Had the person in the picture changed so much,

Or was he really always that way?

You say let go,

and I say no,

As we reach my concluding verse.

I cannot change what has happened,

You cannot be what you were once,

All I can do, is write these words.

And know you'll never hear.
