Chp. 4. The arrival
A room?
A path maybe...
A glow, a faint light illuminating the sheer darkness ahead
It seemd to follow her eyes through the darkening shadows that seemed to stretch across...
"AAAAAllleeexxxxx, AAAAllleexxxx."
A whisper in the wind , a shrill echo ringing in her ear.
The voice seemed to echo in every corner, every direction-there possibly was.
"AAAAALLLLEEEEEXXXXXX!!" it seemed to grow louder with every step she took.
" Alex hey , Alex we're there Alex, ALEX!"
"Huh?"
The vision disappeared. Two large brown eyes starred down at her. Alex reconized it as her thirteen yr. old brother.
" Alex are you up?" he asked.
" Ryan, don't do that you scared the crap outta me!"
" Sorry-geez, your craby-"
" No I'm not!"
" Alright that's enough you two!" a gruff voice commanded. A man in his early thirty's with thick brown hair, bushy eyes-brows, and a pair of chocolate brown eyes- looked at them both with a stern stare.
It was a threat Alex's Dad used to calm them both down. She knew he would never do anything irrational.
" Okay kids let's start unpacking." Alex's Mom clutched a bag of groceries in both hands, carrying up to the cabin with ease.
" Here Alex take your stuff into your room." Alex Dad heaved a sporty 'pack into both of her arms, lifting down the back latch of their ebony-black toyota...
" Wow look at the veiw from here." Alex pushed open the two bay-windows. The lake was a clear blue enhanced in the sun's light, now slowly dipping it's toes into the water. Illuminating the sky of light pinks, peach's, purples, and yellows.
It reminded her of the colors she saw during Easter, when all the little kids gathered eagerly around the table to paint their Easter eggs.
Her room was to her delight as well.
All the light seemed to filter into her room, as she let the cool breeze drift in. The walls were a light peach, the floors enriched in a dark-chocolate oak. Cascading over to the curtains draped in a cream-white-matching her bed that lay on the opposite end.
Her eyes followed to a shaped dome, that connected her room to the other. It also looked as identical as to her's. That room was where her friend Jasmine would stay.
Speaking of Jasmine where was she? She should've arrived an hour ago.
(Speaking of hour ago, she better start unpacking, before her Mom comes in to check on her.)
The packing was almost complete. Everything had been organized and put away in her room. Now all she needed to do was put away her bathroom supplies.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" she screamed in shock.
The light flicked on.
In the center stood a girl about 16 yrs. of age. Her long brunette hair hung loosely in 'lil curls at the green-hazel eyes made herself even more pretty than she already was. Dressed in white long-sleeved, topped with a dark red bottoned-tee. A necklace hung loose with an entwisted gold-shaped heart-encased with a red-ruby inside.
" J-J-asmine y-your here!" Alex squealed with delight as the two friends hugged eachother with excitement twinkling in both's eyes.
" Yeah-I know it took forever to get up here. My annoying parents giving me a full-rundown lecture about being polite and behaving, annoyed me to the core!"
" Ha- I know how you feel-before we left my Mom kept asking to make sure I had everything packed. Not to mention she kept on me about bringing sunscreen!"
There was a round of giggles that errupted from them both. Lightening up the mood.
" Ooo I like the outfit." Jasmine looked down at Alex's white rag-doll garment that wrapped at the bossom and cascaded to her waist. With little designs of lace at the collar.
" O thanks." Alex beamed.
It was about Midnight.
Alex still lay awake, troubled with too many thoughts in her mind to even get a wink of sleep.
She could hear faint snoring from the other room. Alex assumed her little friend was by now off faraway in dreamland.
Tossing and turning seemed to be in no good use. Her eyes the least bit heavy.
A faint chill whipped through her curtains, sending a cold breeze that gently lifted her covers with a slight ease.
She shivered- the room seemed to drop immensly in temperature. It had to be at least fifty degrees outside. There was a sudden chill that made the back of her neck hairs stand on end. Something did not seem right. The room had become ice-cold.
Alex shivered uncontrollably now.
Wait! Wait...what was that?
Something was hovering in the corner of her room. She was sure of it.
A looming shadow overhead creating like a dark fortress. That seemed to get darker with each passing moment.
I must be dreaming this is a dream... Alex thought in doubt, It has to be... it has to be...
As if floating the shadow began to move closer. Taking form a ghastly white outline.
It almost looks like a ...ghost!
"ALLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXXX IIIIIIIIITTTTTT'SSSSS MEEEEEEEEEE!"
It almost 'as if' screamed out in a shrill voice. Alex heart seemed to skip a beat, clenching a fist-hold grip on sound of it's voice made her shudder in fright.
There was only on thing she could do-to save herself. And with a burst of air from the top of her lungs-
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Hold on tight guys-there's more to come.
catch'll l8r!
