Taste This Gun

12/19/05

Cold metal in your mouth

And I’m thinking

How many more slight bits

Of pressure do I need

To shower the wall with your face?

Your eyes are wide

And pleading with me,

Tearful and frightened

You’d beg me if you could

But the barrel’s got you gagged

Stop fucking crying

You asked for this one

Kill me, I’ll kill you

Yes, I’m dead inside

Didn’t you know?

I want to make a

Smoking blown-out wreck

Of that smile I used to kiss

Of those eyes I thought

Looked only at me

That’s all you’re seeing right now

Me looking at you looking at me

And this deadly piece of metal

That spans the space between us

The space you put there

Damn you for this distance

For pushing me away

While you still had a fist

Clenched around my heart

You ripped it from me

Now there’s a hole in my chest

Your own form of a bullet wound

Well, it’s time for payback

Your pain for mine

Your life for mine

Only this can erase it

Only this can ever end it

For either of us

Goodbye, my sweet poison.

Maybe you’ll learn from this.
