The Paths of Do or Don’t

1/20/06

How does one understand

The twisted paths of do or don’t?

To navigate this maze of choices

Is to burrow deep inside,

Getting caught up in what-ifs

And a million questioning looks

Lost between the solid silences

Left behind from heartbeats

This way or that, how to tell them apart

Both are shrouded in the mists

Of could’s, would’s, and cant’s

Leaving only a best guess

As to where they end farther down

Enter the thrill of the choice,

Of the reasoning behind

The simple fact of one or the other,

Flip of a coin, toss of a hat

Chance, fate, or premeditated information

So many drives and dispositions

One can claim to back them up

Some good, some bad,

Yet all veering unerringly onward

One last question, then;

Which way shall you choose?
