Hourglass
5/17/05
Emotion –
A single hot ember,
Combined and combusted,
Pressure to shatter the glass.
Now the rubble,
Crystalline, pure, fractured
A million ways to see the world.
Grains of sand scattered.
White on black on sorrow.
Each a silent wish stilled
That bursts now transient
Midst passion and despair,
Trailing wakes of tearstreak rages.
Blind to suffering and joy.
So longing commences,
No glue to fix what’s cracked.
Crystals and crushed rock;
All that is left of feeling
Spilled upon the floor . . .
