Turn

2/17/06

One point in time leads,

Twelve tears fallen and iced;

Shrouded in this,

Can I breathe?

Knowing not what lies beneath,

Fading in and out forever;

Close the eyes,

I can’t feel you anymore

Moments frozen,

Stuck in amber and cobwebs

Daylights twisting to garrotes

Numbed from exposure,

Fire on my skin -

Can I scream?

Waking up again to this,

A ragged circle traced

Follow the etches backwards;

I want to return

Words choked upon then lost,

Together then falling apart,

In tatters, next shattered

Slipping downwards,

Sliding back;

Can I live?

No one’s there

Vacant streets, empty coffins

Catch my last whisper

Miles away and counting

Follow the pull

A thick strident pulse

Can I love?

A quiet answer

Singled out between heartbeats -

Only for you.
