I may not be the best author

I may not be the best poet

I may not be the best artist

I may not be the best to show it.

My vocabulary is limited

You probably can tell

It’s very small and limited

But at least I know how to spell.

Not everyone has that talent

To correct every wrong word

If I see even one spelling error

I think it positively absurd.

My grammatical errors can be seen

Over a mile away

It’s a wonder how I can live

Not knowing how to write an essay.

I go by rhyme scheme

And make it simple and short

Always four-line stanza

And never did I hear a retort.

There are other styles

Like lyrics and haikus

But I’m better off with this one

And not in my Asian shoes…

I write what comes to mind

Even if it’s in a scribble

I’ll write until I’m sleeping

And begin to dribble.
