Sometimes I wish I were three and a half feet tall again,

When getting up wasn’t a hard thing to do, because I had things to look forward to that day.

Like the ice cream lady at lunch; 25 cents for everything in the freezer box.

Like recess, three times a day, when Miss Suzy and her steamboat were always there to entertain us,

And after school we’d come home to watch Rugrats and Power Rangers, and eat one Banana Popsicle after another.

Sometimes I wish I were three and a half feet tall again,

When Daddy was the coolest man alive,

Like when we’d play a round of “Go Fish”, he’d always let me win.

And when it was bath-time, he’d drink my “delicious tea”, and then spit it out as outrageously as possible, putting a smile across my face,

And when Mr. Carrot fell to his hilarious death from the faucet into the ocean of bathwater, it was the funniest thing my brother and I had ever seen.

Sometimes I wish I were three and a half feet tall again,

When my best friends lived right across the street,

We were always together, like they were practically my sisters,

And we’d play Horses and Barbies in my neighbor’s yard, regardless that it wasn’t our own territory.

And we’d have sleepovers, spending the whole night trying to reach the next level on Crash Bandicoot 1.

And everything was good if we got to walk to HEB by ourselves for nail polish and Lisa Frank notepads.

Sometimes I wish I were three and a half feet tall again,

When life was carefree

And a McDonald’s happy meal made my day.

When school was enjoyable, and Dad was my hero

When my friends lived at my house,

And I didn’t have to worry about what I’m going to do with the rest of my life, or the fact that one day I’d be wishing I had never grown up.

Sometimes I wish..
