Author’s Note: Here’s my attempt at writing a multi-chaptered story. I’ll post my oneshots when I find the time.

Chapter 1: He’s Hopeless

“Dan, put me down!” the seventeen-year-old screamed at her best friend.

“Say it first.” He teased.

“No! Put me down this instant, Daniel!” she screamed back, trying to loosen from his grip. “If you don’t, I’m telling Lexine.”

Daniel stopped spinning around and frowned at her. “Hey, no fair.”

Margaret smiled at him. “It was either this, or me throwing up on your shirt,” she fiddled with it. “A very nice shirt indeed.”

“You just think it’s nice ‘cause you bought this for me for my birthday.” He replied, tugging on it as well.

Her smile grew wider. “And it became your favorite shirt ever since.” She added.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say,” he finally put her down. “And don’t use Lexine as blackmail.”

“I’ll stop once you ask her out,” she answered. Lexine was Daniel’s ‘flavor of the month’. Somehow, he hadn’t managed to ask her out yet, which was very un-Daniel. He had a certain sense of charm that nobody could say no to, except for Margaret, of course, who knew very well that he always used his charisma to get his way.

“You think I should call her now?” Daniel asked her.

“Whoa, that was quick.”

“Come on, you’ve got to help me,” he pulled her into the living room.

She sighed. “Here we go,”

Daniel and Margaret have been best friends for as long as they could remember. Their dads were “golf buddies”, as they would call it, and their moms went to the same law school and currently worked at the same law firm. So, whether they liked it or not, they were stuck with each other. And they realized that somehow, that was a good thing.

“So I’ll pick you up tomorrow night?” Daniel asked over the receiver. “Great!” he gave a thumbs-up to Margaret. “See you at school.” He put down the phone and punched his fist in the air. “Oh yeah! Am I good or am I good?”

“See, that wasn’t so hard, was it?” Margaret said.

“Of course it wasn’t!” he exclaimed. “Why did you even doubt my dating skills? You know girls will always agree to go out with me. I’m Daniel.”

She shook her head in disapproval. “You’re hopeless.”
