“You break my heart into a thousand pieces and you-

“Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.”

Engrave the memories with shattered pieces

It seems that now I’ve got the time

And I recognize the rhyme and reason,

Identify it in your eyes

And now that it’s over, it only seems

I was a temporary fix

Until something more appealing came along

And oh, she did

And I’ll confess, it’s no matter of forgetting

It’s only a matter of letting go

But tell me to my face; explain the logic and the way

Of cutting ties with everything that was your world

And I can’t help hearing you repeat

All of the things you said to me

And betting that you never intended on

Permanent for anything

Thank you doctor, for the overdose of

Harsh reality

With a side effect of my worst fears

And a set to haunt me in my dreams

I hope for the day that you find the significance

Of thinking before you speak

And I hope that that day is the day that you’ll form

An apology for me

But after all, I’m not sure that I know anymore

What is and is not sincere

I’m not sure that I can identify whether or not

Someone really cares

And I’ll confess, it’s no matter of forgetting

It’s only a matter of letting go

But tell me to my face; explain the logic and the way

Of cutting ties with everything that was your world

Here’s to hoping that one day you’ll be the victim

Of these cold sweats and noxious moments

That you’ll call her on the phone and she’ll be gone

And it seems fitting to apologize

Resentment was never quite my style

But I never thought betrayal to be yours

And I’ll confess, it’s no matter of forgetting

It’s only a matter of letting go

But tell me to my face; explain the logic and the way

Of cutting ties with everything that was your world
