Staring into the inky blackness of the sky,
I can only lose myself once more.
The stars can be so very daunting at times.
The moon hanging like a lonely figure Stirs in me the greatest of tragic sorrows.
Even surrounded as the moon is by stars It is very much like a stranger in the crowd,
Lost and drifting with no destination in mind.
A breeze settles through the trees Calling mournfully from across the sea.
Untamed and aimless, it wanders forever Seeking a refuge never found in the world.
Leave me here to gaze forlorn again While the heavens rearrange themselves,
For the stars know of no tomorrows And the moon only needs a companion.
Faithless is our world, ignoring our very future While forgetting a past that haunts our dreams,
When will we realize that right now,
Our chance for being a part of something Is slipping farther and farther from us?
The sea lapping lazily at our shores sings,
Remembering days when we worshipped The very skies we wish to forget.
In a spot excluded from other people,
I let a single tear escape down my cheek For as I feel as lonely as our moon As it lay blanketed in a sea of shimmering stars With both of us losing but a piece of ourselves.
