Are you still there?

Footloose, fancy-free, without a care?

Remember:

That time I missed my bus

You drove me home without a fuss

That time I first tried kettle corn

And cheered for you in uniform?

Spirit day, you in camo and I in plaid

You teased me and I got really mad

When we went to that formal

Dancing with “style”, like normal

You said you were moving to Virginia

And I almost cried because I'd miss ya’

The email that connected us again

And I found you were in England

The long chats we had over the phone

How were you feeling so very alone

The classes and cafes

So short, those insouciant days

How you almost lost your sight

I so wanted to be a light

That I tried to give you good advice

Always referring you to Christ?

How bleak was that December?

Do you still remember?

Everything?

Anything?

Are you even listening?
