AN: I want to thank failte200 for everything he did to make this piece what it is. Thank you. Also, this story contains slash, whice is M/M relationship.

I heard something behind me. Footsteps? I listened and when I slowed down, they slowed down. When I sped up, they sped up. Obviously, someone was following me. As I ran, I realized that I was terrified - I was probably breaking my Senior Boys 100-yard dash record. I ran zig-zags, desperately trying to find a way out. I'd nearly lost hope, when there it was - an opening in the woods. However, with my focus on the ground, I couldn't see that someone - or something - was in front of me. I plowed right into it. I fell back clumsily, hit my head hard on the ground, and the world began to swim in front of my eyes. Before it went black, I saw deep ocean-blue eyes and onyx hair. I blinked slowly, but when I opened my eyes from that long blink I saw a wolf with the same eyes instead. Then the world went black.

My consciousness crept back eventually, but with it came one of the most evil headaches ever. Pushing myself up and looking around, I realized that I must be in one of the mountain caves encircling the town. My eyes roamed around the inside of the cave before they rested on a figure before me. I tried to stay in control, but he instantly attracted my interest. He turned his head towards me, with a small but friendly smile.

“Feeling better?” he asked with a soft and husky voice that sent shivers crawling along my spine.

“Yeah.” I said. I couldn’t think of anything else to say, especially since my voice sounded so…weak, somehow, compared to his.

“That’s good. Uh, got a name?” he asked, probably in hopes of making small talk. I couldn’t seem to look away, no matter how much I tried – it was as if he held me entranced, somehow – not against my will, either

“Sure I do – but I don’t generally give it to people who’ve just knocked me on my ass.” The incredulous look on his face broke into a heart-breaking smile.

“You know, if you hadn’t been running in the first place, you wouldn’t have run into me – so actually, it’s your fault that you blacked out.” I watched his smile fade into an infuriating smirk at what he just said.

He was right even though my pride hated to admit it. “Name’s Erik.” I let him know.

“Hi, Erik. My name’s Conner.” He said before he turned back around, sat down, and just stared out of the cave.

“Hey, um, Conner.” I waited until he turned back to face me. “Could you… uh… tell me the… way out of the woods?”

“Well, yeah sure I could, but you would just get lost so I’ll have to show you.” He turned his back on me only to stare out into the woods. I waited for him to get up so I could go home, but he never made a move.

“…Well? Are you?” I watched as he finally got up and stretched to his full height, his shirt riding up until it was a couple inches away from the top of his tight blue jeans. Something about Conner seemed to have captured my attention and it seemed whatever it was wasn’t going to leave me alone. Blushing a vibrant red – if the heat I felt in my cheeks was any indicator – I pretended to be entranced with the floor. That is until I noticed a pair of sneakers standing in front of me. Conner lowered himself in front of me and leaned in to where he was hardly a breath away.

“No – too dangerous. Werewolves. It’s a full moon tonight.” Looking up I saw he was dead serious about the werewolves. I knew of the stories, legends, and myths about werewolves in the mountains around town, but since I’d never seen one, I didn’t really believe they existed.

“You know there isn’t a such thing as werewolves.” I said, trying to sound clever.

“Oh yeah? Well one question – Do you know what you were running from tonight?” Sheepishly, I again pretended to be fascinated by the floor. The truth was that I had absolutely no idea what I was running from. All I knew was there were footsteps that shadowed mine and something about that reminded me of one of the Visions of the future that I get – but I dared not to tell him that. Anyway, he saw through my ruse and said, “I thought as much. I bet all you heard was footsteps that seemed to follow you and so you got spooked.”

My eyes leapt back to his face, “No, I didn’t get ‘spooked’. Something about the footsteps reminded me of one of my Visions, okay?” I angrily crossed my arms over my chest and huffed a sigh. Dammit – What was I saying to this guy? This was just one of my friggin’ deepest secrets! “Oh, shit. You didn’t hear that. It never happened. Shit. I shouldn’t have said that.”

“Why not?” he questioned.

“What? ‘Why not’ what?” I snapped back, desperately hoping he'd drop it.

“Why am I not supposed to know what you just said?” His eyes narrowed in concentration. He acted like it was normal for someone to know the future, which surprised me greatly.

“Because people aren’t supposed to see the future, like I can. It just isn’t supposed to be done, isn’t…right…isn’t…normal.” He started chuckling at what I had said and before I knew it I let something else slip, but I figured he wouldn’t be able to hear me anyway. “Although, I guess being gay isn’t normal either…” I felt a warm hand touch my chin and pull my head up until I was looking into Conner’s eyes. On his face was a gentle, happy, but small smile. Apparently he'd heard me. I blushed again.

“You think being able to see into the future isn’t normal, try being a gay werewolf.” My eyes widened at the revelation that Conner was gay. Maybe, just maybe, there could be…no that wasn’t going to happen. That was when I noticed that Conner’s eyes were the same color as the wolf’s eyes.

“Oh my g- You... you were stalking me tonight weren't you? Those were your footsteps behind me!” He was looking at me like he was worried about my reaction, now that I knew. “Shit! How come I didn't see that? I usually get visions of...” I cut myself off, not sure I wanted to share the kind of “visions” I had. He nodded his head at me in agreement, but still looked worried. “Oh, relax would ya,” I said, “What – you think I'm gonna whip out my silver stake and drive it through your heart or something?” He looked sharply at me.

“You mean you don’t…care?” he said in wonder. “That doesn’t make any sense. You should want to run…scream…kill me.”

“Why? Because off what you are? I can’t say anything. I’m not exactly normal, either. I mean when my parents found out that I was gay and kinda psychic they wanted to throw me out of the house. I don’t know if I even have a home to go back to when I leave here.” Conner just looked at me like I had sprouted another head. “You know…you could, like…say something, already.”

“Sorry…it’s just uh not used to people taking too kindly to me being a werewolf.” He stared at me like he were expecting me jump up, yell “Surprise!”, and bring out a silver stake to kill him with. “In fact you seem almost relieved…kinda glad that I’m a werewolf.”

“Well in a way I guess I am. I mean think about it from where I’m standing. I’m used to thinking of myself as ‘strange’, and then…” Once again all he seemed able to do is stare at me.

That seemed to satisfy him, and he smiled at me as we lapsed into a contemplative silence - until he leaned over and lightly brushed his lips against mine. I was surprised... but delighted, at the same time, and when he tried to pull away – well, that wasn't going to happen. I brought my hands to the back of his neck and deepened the kiss. Finally, we broke away to draw a breath. All he did was grin at me before letting me know that we did have to get some sleep if I were to go home the next day.

I reluctantly laid down in the spot he gave me, but I couldn't get comfortable no matter how much I tried. I turned over once again, and when I did, I felt his body curling around mine. It was... unexpected... but it felt good, so I slowly faded asleep, and into one of my dream/visions.

In the morning, I woke from a very pleasant vision of what could happen with my relationship with my parents and what might happen between Conner and I, and I couldn’t wait to talk to him.

“C’mon we need to get you back to your family.” I looked up surprised at the cold tone in his voice. “I mean now. C'mon... Since I’m gonna hafta show you the way, I want to get this over with as soon as possible.” His distant voice took me by surprise, especially after the kiss from last night.

Slowly I stood up and stretched, trying to work out the soreness in my body. I felt his eyes on me, and then Conner abruptly turned around and stomped his way outside. I followed after at a slower pace. It seemed the whole time we traveled through the woods I was just lagging behind. After the vision last night, I thought everything was going to be okay, but now it seemed like it wouldn’t.

“I’m turning back once we get to the edge of the woods,” he said curtly.

Once again his cold and distant voice pierced my heart. I nodded even though I knew he wouldn’t be able to see me.

We reached the edge of the woods and as we did I slowed down even more, until I finally came up beside him. I watched him for a few minutes, hoping that he would just look at me - I needed to know if he was actually mad at me or… what, but he refused to make eye contact. Finally, I got sick of it, and I pulled his move - I reached out for his chin and forced his face to where he would have to make eye contact.

“You know I’m not going to tell anyone that there are actually werewolves living in these woods.” For a second I saw relief flash through his eyes. So that was what was actually bothering him. “You know it wouldn’t hurt you to come into town some. Sure, people will gossip and try to figure out where you’re from but that’s just their problem.” Smiling I started to pull him close for another kiss, but he stopped me.

“We shouldn’t do this. I mean…uh we ain’t gonna see each other again, so why… why bother.” I listened to him, but I also knew about my vision from last night. I once again started to pull him close for a kiss - and I won this time. It was brief, but then again I did have to get home. I turned to go and I began making my way home. I glanced behind me once but he was already gone. I hoped he got the message - I wanted to see him again. Very much."

When I got home I was greeted by my worried parents, but once they saw that I was fine they went back to being upset with me. Later that night, when I was about to go to bed, I looked out my window to see a lone wolf sitting in the yard. When it glanced up, I saw that it had ocean-blue eyes.
