Spring

The rose has lost

her petals so red,

blooming over,

just like you said.

A newborn horse, unsteady and young,

breathing heavily from two pink lungs.

The birds flit around and build a nest,

to be laid on by a robin’s red breast.

Laid on so gently, the eggs heat up,

so when they hatch, they say “wassup!”

The bees fly and carry honey,

dropping some on a soft brown bunny.

The musty winter air is dead,

just like you said.

Spring is here at last,

so forget the cold past.

Get out and about,

jump up, give a shout.

The air is filled with pollen,

the crusty remains have fallen.

So here I am, waiting for you,

hoping that you’ll be here too!
