You think your words don’t invoke pain,

But when you keep punching softly in one area

A bruise will develop

Eventually.

Or you’ll cut a place that won’t stop

Bleeding

And when it does,

The scar will remain in all its mocking glory.

You think your words aren’t cruel,

Yet when they say the same things as you

You cringe in displeasure

You may smile sweetly,

Such a façade, as your heart caves in.

Or you may laugh; they may think it’s okay,

But you’re really just a wonderful actor,

Tightening your mask,

As they wait for their cues.

You think your words don’t invoke pain,

But when you punch that punching bag repeatedly,

Your fist leaves its imprint.

-----

People have been annoying me with things they’ve been saying lately, not only to me but also to others. Be careful what you say, what you joke about, you’re often silently punching someone without even realizing.
