Monday 7:15 am

I Beep…Beep…Beep…

The alarm clock sounded and Lily Martin‘s eyes snapped open. She could hear her mom yelling for her to get up or she would be late to school. She rolled out of bed and looked at herself in the mirror. She was actually very pretty despite her completely tangled hair from sleeping. Her light blue eyes with grey specks stared back at her.

“Another day in hell.” She muttered with a sigh. She brushed out her long, golden hair and pulled it into a high pony tail. She picked up her plaid skirt off the floor and held it up in the air, “Why the made school uniforms is beyond me.” She yanked her skirt up over her girlish hips and threw on a wrinkled white-collared shirt.

Lily sauntered down the stairs and peered into the kitchen. She did not want to spend any more time with her mom and the new boyfriend who had just moved in. He was okay looking but Lily absolutely hated his greasy looking hair. She grabbed her books and ran out the front door before her mother could ask if she wanted any breakfast. Ever since her mom had let his man move in she has wanted to be ‘Susy Homemaker.’ But the one thing is, her mother could not cook to save her life. Lily always attempted to avoid any sort of meal cooked by her.

“Hey Lil!” Emily Morgan exclaimed while leaning against the fence as she does every other morning, “Your shirt is wrinkled.”

“Brilliant deduction, Em.” She grunts at her and slings her navy messenger bag over her shoulder. “Mr. Jon Donahue was at my house this morning.” She says with a scowl, “So of course my mom cooked breakfast.”

“No offense, but I am never coming to your house when your mother cooks.” Emily honestly tells her friend.

“I don’t blame you! I do give her props, she is tryin-” Lily cut off and stopped dead in her tracks. “There he is, Em.” She said as she stared at the boy she had seen so many times the week before, yet she still didn’t know his name. He was leaning against his light blue Ford Mustang with his hands in his pockets and his friends surrounding him. Lily loved the way his jet black hair looked in the sunlight.

“Here we go again!” Em smacks her forehead and looks in the boys direction. “Why don’t you just go up to him and talk to him?”

“Because that’s not how it works! He should come to me and talk, not the other way around!” Lily yelled at her friend. “But, I do happen to know his band is playing at The Grind on Friday. And we are so gonna be there.”

“How is it you know where and when his band is playing, yet you are clueless as to what his name is?” She curiously asked.

“Shut up, now lets go or we will be late.” She said and ushered Emily into the school building. The girls went to an old all-girls school. The place was very strict, especially on Lily, Emily, and their other two friends Cady and Sierra. The girls always managed to do something wrong to land them in the dean’s office.

10:35 am

Lily scribbled on a piece of paper to Sierra during history class:

Sisi,

I saw him again today! And he looks hotter every time I see him! You better be coming with my and Em to watch the band play on Friday!

Sierra open the neatly folded paper and scribbled back:

Lil,

You are so gonna love me! Dan told him your mystery boy’s name is Reid Garwin. Dan goes to school with his younger brother Caleb.

As Lily read her pal’s note, a huge smile grew on her face. She finally knew something about him besides that he’s in a band! This was the highlight of her day! The bell rang and it was time for them to leave for lunch. Lily jumped out of her seat and hugged Sierra, “I love you so much, you’ve made my day!” She yelled at her friend just as her worst enemy, Kayla Myers, looks at her with disgust.

“Get a hotel room you lezbo’s.” She told them and walked out of the room. Kayla Myers and Lily never got along. Kayla thinks she is so much better than everyone and that she is the shit. She always got everything she ever wanted and basically ruled the school.

11:15 am

The four girls made their way through the cafeteria and found their normal lunch spot, the table at the far window. Lily decided to go light for lunch and decided to only eat and apple and tater tots while her friends grabbed a little of everything available. Her friends could eat as much as they wanted yet they never gained weight. This astonished Lily because she works out all the time just to maintain her weight.

“So what is everyone else doing later?” Cady asked the group as she chowed down on her greasy pepperoni pizza.

“I have gymnastics practice tonight.” Lily announced. Sierra would be spending the evening with her boyfriend, Dan, whom Lily now greatly appreciates. Emily would be going shopping with her mom for a birthday present for her aunt. Cady was doing nothing and was sad that everyone else had something to do.

4:35 pm

Lily enter the old gym only to have smells of sweat and deodorant fill her nostrils. She loved coming to gymnastics practice; she had been doing gymnastics since she was 3 and her mom put her in a toddler class. Now, at the age of 17, she was in the top of her class and normally had to help everyone else. Sadly, Kayla Myers also does gymnastics and happens to be in Lily’s class.

“Look what lezbo just walked in.” Kayla stated as Lily walked over to the group.

She doesn’t let it bother her anymore. As much as she hated Kayla, she knew she would get what is coming to her.

Lily took off her wind suit to reveal her black little shorts and lime green sports bra. She hated having to practice in leotards; the feeling of the fabric made her want to be sick. She rubbed the dusty chalk on her hands and feet and mounted the balance beam. She loved the beam the best. This was something she was awesomely good at. She threw her hands over her hand and performed a perfect back handspring into a back tuck. All the other girls watched in amazement; Lily had such poise and natural ability that no other girl could match.

8:00 pm

Lily walked out of the gym, still in her shorts and sports bra; she hadn’t bothered changing seeing as she was just going home. Kayla Myers ran passed her and up to a guy waiting for her. Kayla threw her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately. She walked to the other side of the car and climbed in. The boy looked at Lily as he, also, climbed into the car and drove away. It was then that she knew who the boy was. She jumped into her silver SUV and drove home as fast as she could.

8:25 pm

Lily burst through her bedroom door and fell flat on her bed. She searched under her covers for her cell phone which she had left home since before school. She dialed Emily first, “You will not believe what I just saw!” She practically yelled into the phone.

“What?” Emily replied and Lily could clearly hear her mom in the background saying something rude about how loud Lily had been.

“Kayla Myers was basically making out in the gym parking lot with none other than my one true love, Reid freaking Garwin.” Lily said all in one breath. She could not believe the boy she had been secretly crushing could date someone as horrible and snotty as Kayla Myers!
