Chapter 3
Into a smoky pool hall and through crowds of people Conner finally got her to his dumbass friends. Walking up to them was a moment of pride for approval. Whenever a guy brings a new girl around his friends have to check her out and after that you either get the vote of approval or the vote that you get laughed at and years from then they still bring up that girl because of how busted in the face she was. Conner’s idiot friend Johnny pulled him aside and simply said, “Dude, you better hit that before one of us do.” They both laughed but Conner knew she was his for that night at least.
It’s weird how fate has the tendency to throw curve balls at you. It’s kinda like God’s just chillin up in the clouds on his La-Z-Boy recliner making fun of you with a group of dead people.
Talking to Alexa still he heard a girl’s voice behind him asking whose shot it was. His eyes got big and his forehead developed a quick bead of sweat on it. If anything could make tonight weird it would be this. He turned around to see Steph concentrating on making a cut shot. Thinking out loud he said, “Holy Shit…” Steph looked up just as she was making the shot and bunny hopped the ball right into Alexa’s face. For a moment she just stared in a daze and then a stream of blood started pouring from her nose.
Everyone stood around staring in shock. It had obviously been an accident but you can imagine what was about to happen. Heaven forbid that someone break the nose that would probably gotten surgery sometime in the future anyway. Tears started pouring down her face as she started freaking out.
“You stupid bitch! What the fuck is your problem. Why don’t you go do some heroin and kill yourself. Conner, we’re leaving!”
Conner looked at Steph for a quick moment. He knew that the better thing to do would be to get Alexa out of there before she got her ass beat but at the same time he didn’t do anything to defend his best friend. Steph and him made eye contact, and he was about to make a decision that could affect his relationship with her indefinitely. Could the urge to fuck some slutty girl really over power the friendship he had built over so many years. He looked down and away. He couldn’t look her in the eye as he walked out with the town tramp. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but in his eyes it was too late to go back. He had already done enough to show his unloyalty.
They got in the car both in the worst of moods. He sat in the drivers seat listening to Alexa bitch with an anal voice do to the tissue squeezing her nose. He didn’t want to hear it and the chances of him getting anything tonight were slim to none. He pulled out of the parking lot and began a drive of silence. His sunglasses still on, he avoided making any sign of emotion. She looked over to him and gave a kind and innocent smile.
“Just because your friend is a bitch doesn’t mean our night has to be over.”
This had been the thing he had been working towards all night, but for some reason it didn’t seem like it was worth it. At the last moment he looked over to her about to concede with her and make the shameful move of charming her even more. Then it was over. Everything was silence and terror. The scene went dark and the consciousness of the betraying friend was gone.
