Chapter thirteen

I stayed silenced for a few more seconds, just looking at the hand of the rapiny. Petrified by the implications implicit in the situation I was facing.

- Your precious little captain is, right now, under the careless protection of one of my men. If you don’t do as I say, young Queen, Velary will never have the King of your dreams.- He said smiling triumphantly.

- Velary is our first and only duty. We will both die gladly saving our kingdom. - I answered him truthfully.

- Who told you I would let you die with him? No little Queen. You would live with the knowledge your lover died because of you. You would see him die in my own hands.- he said looking me in the eye. – Because we, rapinys, we know the importance of lovers.

The Rapiny moved closer to Kathy moving his hand across her neck kissing the bare shoulder.

- We know that lovers are the fighters’ unique weakness. – He was so fast I couldn’t even understand what happened. In one moment, he was looking at me and in the other, he grabbed his sword and cut Kathy head off, as simply as that. The blood feeling the floor, the sword shining in the darkness. A few seconds later I noticed my own deep scream.

Noooo! Kathy no!

The rapiny smiled widely at my reaction, cleaning some of the blood in his face with a white bandanna. I couldn’t stop myself from screaming and crying for my best friend. Killed like a miserable animal. No pity, no warning, no pride…

- Did I mention you that we rapinys don’t tolerate weakness? – he said a few minutes after, picking me up from the floor and making me face him.

- You’re a monster. You will pay for this you’re… - he silenced me with another strong slap.

- When my men told me that the Queen Alura, was somehow, hanging around with the cold Brian Stell. I couldn’t believe it. But then looking at your future husband anyone with brains would get desperate. – he passes his fingers trough my hair. – Maybe, if I didn’t have such a good taste for women, I would have give you what you needed. But I required Kathy by my side.

- You disgust me! – I whisper, swallowing my own blood. Everything in my mouth hurts. Even my small thong will never be the same again.

- You’re a fighter woman. Maybe in the end of this little adventure, I can still get my fun with you. Now show me the protector! Because I’m getting impatient and your knight lover can’t wait much longer. – He puts his hand closer to my face so that I can see Brian against a tree and a knife standing right in front of his neck. The blue flames closer and closer to my eyes.

Brian my love… my kingdom… my parents… please forgive me.

- I will you do as you say rapiny. But how can I know you won’t hurt him anyway? – I said finding some more straight to face him again.

- I will show you young Queen. – The same hand opens again only to show me Brian standing still in the floor of a forest. – He’s unconscious but he is alive.

I search deep inside, trough our bond, for some clue about Brian state. Everything screamed to me, that he was still alive.

- Then I will lead you to the protector chamber. But then you must leave Velary immediately. – I said using the special magic keys.

- Yes Alura I will leave, but not alone. You will come with me, to my castle, as my prisoner. You have no other choice and I will use as warning, for the rest of the leaders. – The rapiny blustered my feet with some of his magic, making me fall on my knees. But specially making me realize I was still totally powerless.

My faith, the kingdoms faith is with you my love. I know you won’t disappoint me.
