Bailey’s shoulders slammed back against the locker as Peter pinned her there. She just smirked up at him. It was after school so there was no one but them in the hallway. She had just finished a National Honor Society Meeting and was cutting through the school towards the back parking lot when Peter cornered her. She wished Jamie had stayed through her meeting like he offered but she didn’t want to make him stay there so it was just the two of them. Peter raised his hand and slapped her across the face.

“No one makes a fool of me!”

“You don’t need any help doing that yourself.” She smirked.

He slapped her again. “What the hell are you smiling at?!”

“I know you are just a pathetic loser who breaks down in the face of rejection and I’m done with you.”

“You’re done with me?!”

“That’s what I said. I’m sick of your shit and you need to walk away.”

“Why would I do a stupid thing like that when I have you right where I want you?” He pressed his hands harder to her shoulders as he leaned in closer.

“Do you want kids?”

“Are you offering to carry my child?”

“Was that the question? I believe I asked you if you wanted kids because if you don’t let go of me right now you will mysteriously have a sex change.”

“What-?”

He was cut off when Bailey kneed him as hard as she could in the groin. He curled over in pain as she pushed him back away from her. “Like I said,” she said as she walked around him and started down the hallway again, “I’m done with you.”

When she arrived home, she walked up to her room to see Jamie sitting on her bed holding a red rose. “How did it- what happened to your face?” he asked alarmed as he jumped off the bed and walked over to Bailey. He cupped her face in his hands.

“It was just that ass hole Peter. Don’t worry, I took care of him.”

“What did you do?”

“Gave him a sex change.” She smiled.

“That’s my little fighter.” He touched her cheek with his pointer finger.

“Who’s that for?” Bailey asked as she motioned towards the flower.

“You.”

She blushed. “What for?”

“I wanted to ask you something.”

“What?”

“Will you be my girlfriend?”

“I already told you I would go out with you.” She smiled as she delicately held the flower to her nose.

“No, I want to know if you will be my official girlfriend, my main squeeze, my right-hand girl.”

She smiled and blushed again before she rose to her tip-toes and kissed him passionately on the lips. “I would like nothing more.”

He kissed her back. “You want to catch a movie and then maybe get something to eat?”

“Well, if you’re going to be my boy friend now, you have to ask in a boyfriend-like manner not like my best friend.”

“Can’t I be both?”

“Yea, but I still want a little romance from the boyfriend side every now and then.”

He stopped and took a knee. “Bailey, would you care to go out with me this lovely evening to a cinema and then dine out?” he said in his best French accent.

“I would love to, James.” She said in her French accent with a smile.

“Hey, not the whole name.” he said returning to his normal voice and stance.

Bailey rolled her eyes as she walked in front of Jamie out the door. “Romantic moment over, I guess I will have to settle for best friend Jamie instead of boyfriend Jamie.”

He stopped and took her hands to make her face him before he kissed her. “No, boyfriend Jamie is here and it’s going to take a hell of a lot to get him away. I’ve waited a long time for this title and I am going to milk every aspect of it.” He kissed her again, but this time his hand came up to her stomach and pushed her shirt up as it inched up her stomach.

“How long have you liked me like that?” she asked as she pulled away.

“Fifteen years too long.”

She smiled because they have only known each other for fifteen years. “Don’t exaggerate.”

“Okay, fine, fourteen years and three hundred and sixty four days. I hear that that first day I met you, you threw a plastic toy at me giving me my first black eye.”

“T’was out of love, my dear.”

He smiled. “For a moment when I interrupted you at the restaurant with Peter, I thought you would hate me forever.”

“For a moment there, I thought I was mad at you.”

He smiled. “You could never be mad at me, I’m too likable.”

“And modest, too.” She smiled before he kissed her again. “Why do you keep kissing me?”

“You don’t like it?”

“No it’s just-”

“I love it too. Why deny ourselves of a good thing? Hey. Maybe when we get back you can show me that little red number I bought you?”

“Maybe,” she smirked as she got into his car, “if you’re lucky and play your cards right.”

He looked at her and silently thanked God for bringing them together before getting in and driving away. They decided to eat first and when they got to the restaurant and went in, a young host sat them and handed them the menus. Jamie noticed how he seemed to pay more attention to Bailey and hardly any to him.

“I’m Nick and I will be your waiter tonight.” He said as he smiled at Bailey.

She smiled back. “I’m Bailey.”

Jamie silently seethed as he watched his flirtatious gestures. The way he wrote in his stupid little book, the way he took her every order, the way he ran his hand through his perfect brown hair made Jamie sick. Jamie glared at him until he walked away.

“You’re my girlfriend!” he declared as he got up and dragged her from the restaurant. She just smiled as she let him pull her, loving every minute of it.

Author’s Note: Well, this is it. I’m finished now. I was going to finish with my last chapter but decided that it wasn’t finished until now. That last little bit was setting it up for a sequel, what do you think? Maybe, but I want to finish my other stories first. Thank you for reading and please review!
