I walked into the house and slid my shoes off, dropped my backpack, their living room almost as familiar to me as my own now. I remembered the first few times, so awkward and foreign. It seemed like I spent more time there than at my own house, but I knew that it was just the times that mattered.

"Go upstairs and close your eyes!" You said, grinning wide, running to your room to get this present you had been on about since Sunday ("you're going to love it Katie I know it"). I smiled confusedly at your retreating back, but went upstairs all the same and took my oh-so-familiar place on the couch. "Are your eyes closed?" you called up ahead, and I responded that they were now. When I opened them you were with me, with a big soft blanket with brightly covered, half hidden cats and tied off edges, so pretty, like a real present. "So do you like it?" You were so warm leaning against meeven through our clothes and I think even if you had given me the most hideous gift ever I still would have answered

"Of course I do."
