Chapter one

Dear diary,

Today again nothing happened, this is great no one cares for once. Every since my parents died, the kids at Liken whole middle school were always asking me questions, it was so hard. Every time I tried to answer I would burst out in tears, then run off while people would just point and laugh. But why wouldn’t they? I didn’t tell them that my parents were murdered. They wouldn’t understand how hard it is for the killers not to be found, and the police calling the investigation off. I am left with a mystery I can’t solve.

So the police sent me to my aunt and uncle’s house. They don’t have any children so when they are off doing who knows what, I am here alone reading most the time. It is so boring, and that is the way I like it. For now I prefer to be a no one. I don’t want to be popular because my parents died; I don’t want people to care! The more they care the more I don’t care, the people here just want to know how cool I was and if they could start rumors about me. Well I just let them, why should I care? They will never know and if they find out all I would get is pity. And I don’t want it! I want to live normally and being a no body is just how to do that. The people don’t need to know that I used to be a cheerleader, or that I was a student body officer, or that I was the most popular kid in school. They just didn’t need to know!

To myself in the future one piece of advice I never want to forget. “Even if the world’s eyes are on you, always know what is right. Don’t forget your roots, where you came from, and don’t be afraid to show them. If you try hard enough, and you go far enough you might be forgiven. When it is done and your still less then zero, you will forever be an anti-hero.” Listen and try your hardest, don’t forget!

Yours truly,

Ellcia.

After writing in her diary Ellcia went to her favorite armchair in the library to read. Ellcia didn’t know what her aunt and uncle did as a living, they never answered her when she asked. But nevertheless they were filthy rich; they owned a mansion in Maine by the sea. Ellcia loved going out and looking at the horizon until dinner sometimes. Ellcia was reading a book about a girl who goes on an amazing adventure and travels the world. She wished her life could be like that, always moving. Never in just one place, never had time just to be one person.

Well she was so wrapped up in her book that when she heard the door unlocking and some one coming in she jumped in surprise. She only remembered that her aunt and uncle were already home. “ What am I going to do?” she whispers to herself. She jumped up and looked around. There was no place to hide! Where was she going to go? She decided to hide in the closet, it was meant for you to hide in she remember. The shelves in the closet opened up to reveal a little room with more books and the same type of armchair in the middle of it. She quickly stepped in side, sure to close the closet doors and the shelf doors. She quickly realized that the room had a window she couldn’t see before. “Must have been put there so you can see when some one leaves… or enters.” She said to herself.

Just then some masked men came in, she hurriedly shut her mouth, hoping they didn’t hear her. The masked figures looked around the room for a couple minutes before opening the closet. The masked figure went through all of the things before coming to the shelf door. What if he knows? Ellcia thought to herself. He rumbled around for a while before leaving the closet. She could hear him speaking to the other guys in the room before leaving. All she could get was “wasn’t here. Lets” then silence. She sat there for a while not daring to move. She was thinking of when her uncle showed her the closet when she got her tour of the house, and before her relatives had to leave. He said that his grandpa hid in this closet for 2 days when some guys came to the house. He said that they wore masked and dressed in black from head to toe. He also said that the masked guys never took any thing, or broke any thing. They just looked around, but never found what they were looking for. The men from her uncles story had frighten her when she was younger, but know it really, really scared her. Are these the same men? Can it be!

Ellcia couldn’t help but wonder these things. No they couldn’t be the same people she finally told her self that was over 100 years ago, they would be dead. She finally started her way out of the closet room. When she got out nothing was missing, only a few things moved here and there, but every thing was fine.

Ellcia didn’t know what to do. Men just came into the house and took nothing, should she tell any one? What happens if they don’t believe her, would they call her crazy and would she get attention when she didn’t want it? Or would that some one believed her, would they watch mote carefully and treat her with more respect? Would she want it, no she wouldn’t. But she can’t just sit back and do nothing, or could she? Ellcia decided to tell her uncle when he got home; he of all people would believe her. He believed his grandpa, why wouldn’t he believe her?

When her uncle got home she tried and tried to explain what happened, but her uncle wouldn’t hear of it. He said “My grandpa was off his rocker and so are you, there were no bad guys then and there are none now. No matter what a little girl like you says!” Ellcia didn’t know what to do, her uncle sounded really very mad, and what happens when they came back again? She knew they would, she couldn’t explain it. It was like this little voice in the back of her head was saying hide, run and hide. Don’t wait for them to find you, what would they do.

Ellcia didn’t know where this was coming from, why would they come back. What were they looking for in the first place? They wouldn’t dare come back, would they? Ellcia keep thinking this all night and into the morning. She didn’t get an ounce of sleep. What was wrong with her?

It was the weekend so she didn’t have school. What was she going to do? She didn’t have friends to share all this with, and she couldn’t concentrate on her books. So she decided to eat and sleep, its not like her aunt and uncle would notice, they work on the weekends to. So that is what she did all through the weekend. Ellcia was actually looking forward to school, even if it means homework to do.

When she finely went to school she was darn right perky. She said hello to every one, which was weird, and did her best in class, which was doubly weird. She still ate lunch alone and ignored people when they started to talk to her, but it wasn’t a bad day. She did though talk to this one girl who like her wasn’t into talking to people. They talked all through their brakes and discovered that they had some classes together as well. This was weird for the both of them, but they didn’t mind they finally found friends.

“Sophie (for that was the girls name) do you want to come over to my house today, we can do our homework together.” Ellcia didn’t know why she was inviting Sophie over, but she was nice and her only friend.

“Umm… yeah that would be fun. You wana’ walk together?” Sophie asked quietly. Sophie was a quiet girl with deep red hair, a light tan, and freckles all over her face and arms. “Yeah that would be fun, see you after school.”

Please review and tell me if you like this chapter, or if you think I cut off to soon, come on please review, it only takes one word, good, that is all I’m asking for, “good” or “bad” or more if you really liked it, or hated it, please)
