A Solider Deep In Suffering
A soldier stands alone,
his gaze to all unnerving,
For the pain he feels
inside, its sad but there’s no curing.
He doesn’t have the
cancer, diabetes, or HIV,
He’s simply turned
into himself, and nothing can he see.
He’s blinded by the
memories, the unbalance of it all.
He thinks of friends
and comrades lost, ones that he’s watched fall.
But whatever can he do?
He has nowhere to go.
He stands still in this
battle field, no emotion does he show.
But none of this is
real, for his Sergeant calls his name.
This has gone on for
many moments, but the answer’s still the same.
Bullets fly by his
head, though he hardly seems to care.
A rocket grazes by his
arm but misses by a hair.
The soldier’s
comrades keep on calling, hoping he will hide.
He finally turns to
heed their call, a bullet takes him from the side.
To his knees he slowly
falls, friends screaming out in vain.
Finally he’s found
the cure to all this senseless pain.
