Remembrance Day

I don’t have to go to work,
For me today is free.
This day has been set aside,
For every race and sex and creed.

Lets bow our heads and look real solemn,
We’ll pretend to pray.
Another ceremony and half hearted tributes,
Are the order of the day.

From simple text in history class,
Justice can’t be done.
You say you know their sacrifice,
You know ignorance my son.

They say many have fallen,
But you cannot know their pain.
Its not that they lost their lives,
But how that brings them fame.

So all of ye who sit there idle,
Step on this craft with me.
Stride beside me into battle,
Show the courage not to flee.

If you can manage to fight for freedom,
Your worth the world will see.
After this I promise you,
Before the cenotaph you’ll be.
