Walk the hallways of my mind
Get lost in circles intertwined
And watch the gates come crashing down
Stare through the bars until I find
There's not much here I haven't found

Pacing circles, round and round
Drawing pictures on the ground
Trace an image in the dirt
Make it real, like clockwork wound
Then let it loose...and watch it work

Watch it spin and click and jerk
Shine some starlight in the murk
Light the cogs of the machine
Hear the tiny cogwheels work
Hear them whir and watch it gleam

See the cogwheels shining clean
Wonder what the symbols mean
Open books and search the brain
Find someone who might explain
More paper needed, reams and reams

To say for sure that all is dreams
That gates and bars and walls and scars
Were only and can only be
Less solid than a dream...
