“This is what we’ll do instead.

Your plan is much to rash and bold.

And though the White Things, pale and cold,

Have infected this young child,

Her infection’s rather mild.

We can save Anna Molly yet.

The White Things will never get

A child as meek as this.”

“But something is amiss.”

He pondered while he was alone

In the Room that he called home.

“This child is not quite what I thought.

Indeed it’d seem she had not fought

Against this disease that’s caught her.”

He gave his tea a gentle stir,

And spoke again when he was done.

“Will a White Thing she become,

If I leave her on her own?

But would she really be alone?

This situation simply is absurd!

These foolish plans will stay unheard!

To my word I will keep,

No odd path shall she seek!”

Malachi placed his tea cup down.

His two lips twitched, held in a frown.

This girl had meddled in things to large,

Things that could threaten his roll in charge.

“If this girl, we do shun,

Then the Council will come undone.

Too many are swayed by her pretty face,

When she could be the downfall of this place!

It would be better if she was lost.

But that would come at a great cost!

Oh, readily do I fear,

She will destroy all we hold dear.”
