The Resurrection
Christ the Lord has risen today!
Christ the Lord has risen, indeed.
Joy to the world, no longer weep,
For we have risen with our Lord;
The land of Death no more holds sway,
Joy to the world, no longer weep,
We no more must fear the grave,
For Christ the Lord has risen today.
The Women
The women went to anoint the body,
To close this tragic chapter,
And to close the tomb within their hearts,
Even as they wondered how to open the physical.
Would the guards let them enter?
Would they roll away the stone?
The women worried, “What to do?”
And to their greater worry, the tomb was open.
Within a man, an angel said “Do not fear.”
(For mortals always fear divinity.)
“You seek Jesus, who was crucified,
But he is risen. He is not here!”
He is risen; he is not here--
Seven words of perfect awe.
So the woman ran, spices left,
For naught else could they have done.
Next chapter: The Men
A/N: This will go all the way to the ascension, but consider this the end of the Easter series. I have forty days to write what's left of the story, so my updates may not be so consistant. ;-)
