I lay on the ground, in grass and clover,
My hands twist and shake, my eyes glaze over.
My clothes are ripped and splattered with cool mud,
Out from my lips pours my bitter red blood.
I can see before me each blade of grass,
Dancing in the wind like a sweet young lass.
Water pricks my cheeks, a small spring shower,
As light fades out in my final hour.
