Chapter 8: The loss of innocents
I stayed in the alter waiting for Priest it had been a long while. Ashley lay in my arms right now somewhere in dreamland. I couldn’t imagine what horrors awaited for her in reality.
Suddenly she started trembling, was it a nightmare? No I soon realized seeing her mouth open and her fangs peering out, she was hungry for blood.
I revealed my blade piercing my right palm. Squinting a little I manage to resist the pain.
I placed my hand next to her lips, at an instant her vampire sense kicked in sensing her nourishment before her. She sipped on it gently taking as much as she needed, that’s when she woke up.
Her crystal blue eyes looked up at me wondering why I was doing this but what was on my mind was different.
I couldn’t stay away from her awestruck stare, this soon made me brake from my values, and I consumed her that moment our mouths touching each other made me violent in the night. I laid her on the floor fulfilling my desires and lust. She felt the need also succumbing to her bloodlust, I held on to her touching everywhere of her body; biting her shoulder sensually, while she held on to my blood soaked hand, I could feel her sensation seeking out her ecstasy, placing my hand on her body as she let the blood caress her breasts.
She groaned when I touched her sensually almost making her gasp for air, her hands wrapped around me scratching my back. Taking in more and more of me, she felt the need of my warmth it felt like the nightmares had disappeared from her; that’s when it happened.
Out of nowhere her bloodlust consumed her as she screamed for pleasure throwing her fangs on my shoulder, bringing the both of us back to reality. Retracting from the aftermath, I looked at the scratch, blood started to appear on the scabs making me realize what we shared was an illusion.
She gasped realizing what she had done covering her nudity from me in a hurry.
“We shouldn’t have.” She said almost out of word. I covered my bite mark out of embarrassment. I shouldn’t have given in that easily.
“Are you hurt?” she asked looking at me clasping my shoulder blade.
“I’m fine.” I said placing my shirt back on. It was stupid of me to have done that. “It’s just a scratch.”
“Let me see it.” She said almost afraid of the outcome.
“It’s nothing.” I replied hiding it from her.
She held on to my hand slowly removing it from my shoulder as she saw the scrape she made. Her mind threw her to frenzy, staring into my eyes only this time out of fear.
“It’s only a scratch.” I said calmly. She panicked running to the aisle as she picked up my impaler and ran into the night.
I chased after her only to see the gun aiming at her forehead, while the clash of thunder and the drops of rain fell onto us.
“Don’t do this Ashley!” I cautioned.
“I can’t control it anymore.” She said as her eyes watered with fear.
“This isn’t what you want.” I said approaching her steadily.
“Stay back Damian!” she said aiming at him. “It has to end.”
“Not like this.”
“What’s the point?” she asked “What stops me from killing you?”
Nothing was the answer. She could have killed me when she had the chance and with her uncontrollable bloodlust she could kill me now.
“I won’t let you do this.” I said approaching her while the rain soaked me.
“Stay back.” She said nervously. “Stay back!” I continued walking towards her unsure whether she would pull the trigger or not.
She closed her eyes facing away about to pull the trigger, until I grabbed her hand. I seized the gun from her holding onto her soaked body as the rain drenched us both.
“Why didn’t you fire?” I asked her almost uncertain.
“I couldn’t.” she said almost at a whimper.
I was about to take her back into the church until a shadowed figure stood in the rain covered in dark overall. Was it Priest?
The man stood afar almost studying us, the night started to feel cold. He started to approach us.
“You have something that belongs to me, hunter.” He said triggering a sense of familiarity.
“That voice, I’ve heard it before.” She said almost afraid.
“Vladimir Creed, I presume?” I said obviously.
“The same.” He said flatly outstretching his hand for Ashley.
I tell her to run inside as she obeyed while I aimed my impaler at Creed firing five times into his chest, but something was wrong; he kept on approaching me. He was immune to silver?
“Bullets can’t kill me, Damien.” He said grabbing me by the neck as I let out for air.
My eyes started to fade in and out almost at the loss of breath. Placing my arm on his grip, I aimed my impaler right on his wrist and pull the trigger. He may be bulletproof but he wasn’t invulnerable to pain.
A roar of agony erupted from Creed hurling me to the floor while he treated his wound. This gave me the opportunity to strike while he was unfocused.
I aimed my impaler at his forehead about to pull the trigger until his quick reflects shifted my aim to a stray. Damn and that was my last bullet, worst was my sword was back in the church. Creed grabbed me by the neck bone snaring his fangs at me, by his look he was literally out for blood with his fangs projected and his mouth foaming like crazy.
“Care for a lift?” he quipped while I still held onto life.
His back projected extended skin tearing through his coat they soon formed into wings flapping up into the air carrying me above the ground.
My feet felt light in the air trying to touch any surface I could.
“I could kill you right now.” He gloated. “But what would be the point?”
“I’m the only thing that stands between you from getting to her.”
“True, but you see it’s pointless.” He said raising me above his eye level. “She has turned into one of us; a creature of the night, so why do you protect her?” I refused to answer but he was right, she had turned; she was no longer human and there was nothing I could do but to stay with her until this was over.
“Perhaps I should state my offer.” He said. “Give me the girl and I shall spare your life from the horrors that awaits this city.”
“Here’s my reply.” I struggled to say. “Fuck you.”
A calm cold stare glared at me almost giving me a cold feeling, something I would regret.
His calm mortal features soon transformed into a beast like face, a combination of wolf and bat.
“Then you will burn with them.” He said releasing his grip as I plummet from the sky down to the roof of the church crashing down to the inside.
Ashley ran towards me as the moonlight reflected on what was left of my body. Slowly my body felt the cold painful release of death; I felt something pierce from behind me. My heart started beating faster yet it became slower and slower.
Ashley stood in front of me, almost gasping at my sight as my vision became more and more blurry. I couldn’t protect her anymore I had failed.
“Damien?” she whimpered holding my left hand, she placed it next to her cold soft skin, slowly, and my mind became numb. I soon faced the fact I was dead.
“Run away, Ashley…” I coughed. “Run a….”
--
Ashley looked at her hero’s demised unable to move, she didn’t want to leave him but he was no more.
She wiped her tears, kissing Damian one last time before she fled, but something or someone grabbed her from behind.
“So you’re little Ashley I’ve been hearing about?” She said lustfully, as Melissa groomed her raven hair backwards to reveal her neck, she smiled sly revealing her fangs close to her neck until she felt her bite mark on her arm.
“How disappointing.” She frowned nuzzling her nose around her neck fulfilling her lust bound.
Melissa wrapped her arm around Ashley’s waist feeling the girls gentle form, she felt aroused ready to consume her until…
“Enough!” Creed said landing inside the church. Melissa released her arm from Ashley almost out of anger. Creed looked at her, caressing her skin softly. Ashley shivered at his touch struggling to release.
“You managed to escape me once Ashley.” He said. “But never again.” He said taking Ashley out of the church along with his assistance.
As the two left with their captive, three stalkers entered the church about to drag their newly deceased meal; they snarled getting closer and closer until two shadows came from behind them, hacking them into ashes.
They saw Damien on the floor immobilized or worst dead, dragging the body out of the church.
