Shattered Perfection

She walks the halls
Footsteps light and smooth
Hair is perfect, clothes are ‘in’
Roughed jeans, foil shirts, tough girl style
Envied by them all, she is herself
Everything is so right with her
On the outside

Known by all
Secretly loved by many
Heads turn as she passes
Whispers stop, gossip forgotten
Smiles come from saddened faces
All the girls wish to be her
All the boys want to be with her

What they don’t see is inside
A little soul lost in a sea of emotions
“Please just let me get through.
Don’t tease me, don’t leave me.
I just want to be myself,
Don’t ask me to change for you...”
She tries so hard to be someone
