Blank verse is a type of poetry, distinguished by having a regular meter, but no rhyme. In English, the meter most commonly used with blank verse has been iambic pentameter.

Blank Verse--Contemplation

The nights spent sitting in the list'ning dark
have not been, as you think, a total waste.
My soul, my heart, my very core laid bare
for mine own consideration each night
has brought, perhaps, clearer understanding.
Oh, I have looked into the deep abyss
and seen my own eyes staring back at me,
and I have claimed my darkness with sweet grace.
