I've read the poems of many poets,
And heard the songs of many bands,
Who claim that they know and,
That they truly understand.
But I know it's just a scam,
They don't know who I am,
And it's clear to see that

They're on the outside looking in,
Claiming to see the bone,
When they can't see through the skin,

So just stop the lies, don't patronize,
What truly lies within,
I just want one verse,
That's not from the outside looking in.

They say they took,
The road less traveled by,
But they haven't walked a mile,
In their whole entire life.
So don't pretend to get me,
I'm not the person they see,
And it's clear to see that

They're on the outside looking in,
Claiming to see the bone,
When they can't see through the skin,

So just stop the lies, don't patronize,
What truly lies within,
I just want one verse,
That's not from the outside looking in.

And sure they know pain,
If you live then you do,
But it's not always the same hurt,
As the one someone else knew,
It's different marks and scars,
That make us who we are,
And it's clear to see that

They're on the outside looking in,
Claiming to see the bone,
When they can't see through the skin,

So just stop the lies, don't patronize,
What truly lies within,
I just want one verse,
That's not from the outside looking in.
