The market place seemed to be more crowded than usual that day. New visitors from British had arrived into the town, barring several items to trade.

Everyone in the small seaport were fascinated by the British and their bizarre accents.

They held in their breaths as the watched several of the men de-board the ship as well as their captain, Captain Andre Crilont.

A tall young fellow, who had shining blonde hair, held back in a ponytail. Shining blue eyes that sparkled in the sun. He smiled enchantingly to the sea-porters below.

The women swooned and fawned over the captain as he reached the land. They admired his tall stature and radiant features.

"Now ladies...please...control yourselves. I am a mere man like any of the people here." he said regarding to the women's frustrated husbands.

"Well if you ever need a guide through our little town Captain crilont, I would be glad to volunteer," an older woman stated, curling up to his side like a cat.

He stared at her with slight fascination and wonder. He smiled as he saw an older man grab her by the arm, and dragged her off yelling about indecency.

Andre turned to someone yelling his name. He smirked as he watched his first mate, literally, Derek Larose.

"What are you doing Andre? Trying to get several young ladies in trouble then?" Derek turned to the other women, adjusting his coat as he spoke.

"What can I say Derek? I'm the ladies man. Not that I want to be mind you."

"Yea...yea...try to shed some of that onto some of straight sailors then," he remarked pushing the other playing away from him.

Andre nodded his head and walked ahead looking about the town," I can try. But if you really wanted to impress women, then I would suggest you fix yourself a bit. You look a mess."

"Ah come on Andre...I just woke up after that bastard of a look-out yelled,'LAND HO!' Asshole he is...knew I was sleeping." Derek stretched his arms up in the sky.

Andre simply chuckled at his friend's disposition, walking casually to a booth that was selling fruit.

The lady who was attending to the shop, looked up and reddened slightly, seeing that the French captain and another handsome young man were standing in front of her.
"Um...h-h-how ca-n I h-h-elp you sir?"

"Hmm...I was simply stopping by here to see such fabulous fruit for sale. How much are these apples then?" he asked politely, smiling as she stammered out the price." 3 dollars for 12? Not bad. I'll take some then."

Derek rolled his eyes, helping his friend pick out some fruit. After picking the 12, Andre winked at the girl, and left Derek standing with the bag full of apples.

"Hey! Where are you going?!"

"I'm going to go wonder around town. Perhaps visit the local trinket shop." Andre waved goodbye as he left his friend to pay the lady for the apples.

"That jerk! He's always doing this to me!" Derek yelled after the other's back, frightening the girl slightly.

He turned around, paid the girl, and apologize," I'm sorry. He usually tends to do this to me."

"S-so I heard you yelling about it." She looked down at her hands then smiled," I'm Carol Mimpsy."

"I'm Derek Larose. It is very nice making your acquiantance." He placed the bag on the floor, while kissing the back of her hand.

She blushed," Likewise."

"You wouldn't by any chance like to accompany me to the ship quickly to deposit a few more supplies and food would you?" he smiled kindly to her, holding out his hand.

"Bu-ut who's going to watch my shop dear sir?"

Derek pulled her out of her store shop doorway, and held her close." You could always lock it. And then show me around before supplying the ship."

"Dear Derek...I am not that kind of girl."

"I quite I understand. I may be blunt, and lazy, but I in no way am a man to make a lovely young woman lose her virtues to me." He bowed respectfully.

"Oh...well...I suppose it will be alright to be a bit out there then?" she looked up to him with light hazel eyes.

He nodded confidently. Carol took out her keys, locked her shop, and walked around with the strange Englishman. --

Andre grinned as he watched his friend handle the situation, from a far distance.'He needs to have some confidence in himself. That's how you get women Derek.'

He turned around to see a small dog at his feet barking at him insanely," What is it girl?"

The puppy continued to bark at him, turning around looking at something in the distance.

Andre nodded to the dog, and as if she understood, she ran away.

He followed close behind, running after the frantic pup.

She soon stopped once she reached the edge of the sea. The puppy continued looking into the sea, and barking loudly.

Andre turned to the sea, squinting his eyes, for any sign of a disturbance. He sucked in a small breath when he saw a little brown head floating in the water.

It was a small boy, clearly knocked unconscious by something and now floating in the water.

Andre threw off his coat and boots immediately, before diving into the cold, icy ocean.

He spluttered water as he resurfaced, he swam towards the still body, while the dog continued to bark in the distance.

Once he reached the little boy, he wrapped his arm around the torso, and paddling back to shore with the other.

Andre deposited the small child onto the shore. He winced when he saw a line of blood trailing from his head, and down the side of his face.

"Oh lord. I have to get him medical help. Now." He ripped a piece of his shirt, wrapped it around the other's head softly.

Then he placed the coat over the boy gently, picked him up once more, and ran to the seaport town.

The dog trailing behind them, barking in slight urgency and relief.
