Jeanette, AKA Netty, is taking an airplane to her grandparents house. On it, she meets a sailor who tells his terrifying story. Afterwords, she falls asleep, and after learning a terrible secret meets the emotional robot Cerros , who tries to help her break free of the Kingdom of the Schemes before the Dark Queen can kill her off for good.

Prologue

The day that Jeanette had been awaiting so long had finally arrived: she was finally going to see her grandparents after three long years!!! Excitement pulsed throughout her body and happiness coursed through her veins. She had always hated the fact that they lived on the other side of the country and that her parents would not talk to them. She was very lucky that her parents were letting her see them at all with this family war going on. Jeanette swung the bag over her shoulder and dropped her "cya later" note on the kitchen counter. The wind swept through her long red hair and the cold rain pounded on her as she kept her bright green eyes ahead of her. Her future seemed bright as she dashed to board the airplane heading towards sunny San Fransisco, not really knowing just quite where her journey would take her.
