Sarah MacPherson
Dancing and Broken Bones
Lisa stared at the mirror. Her dark brown waits length hair had been pulled into a tight bun behind her head. She smoothed her small hands over her unitard that covered her frail body. She pulled at her skirt hating the way it stuck straight out. Images flashed through her mind of her former self, the pills, the therapists, and the pane. She glanced at her leg. A thick pale scar ran up her thigh where the bars had be laid and then fastened to her shattered bone. A tear ran down her face, Dancing had been her entire world. She could remember the incident vividly and with no effort. She had been dancing swan lake. Cory was to catch her, but missed. She landed horridly wrong. The splinter could be heard throughout the auditorium. She cried as she held her leg. Knowing she was never going to dance professionally again. She locked eyes with her self in the mirror as she slowly raised herself to her toes. She smiled and elegantly walked on stage.
