Plastic Paper Smile

It makes me sick

To see you like this

Plastic face

Paper smile

Manufactured laugh

I can't stand to see you

Looking back at me

Your face is so vacant

I told you what you want to hear

It keeps you silent still

Please don't look at me

I'm oh so sorry

You don't deserve this

I never meant for it

To end like this

You were only

Taking someone's place

The light in your eyes

Where has the spark gone?

I miss the life you brought

To me when I was lonely

Truthfully I don't want it to end

But truthfully it must

I never meant for it

To end this way

Oh, please don't look at me

I'm so very sorry

My vicarious friend
