A/N: It just seems to be a lost art. I’ve ranted several times, and never offended anyone or been told I was rude. Whereas every rant I’ve heard that hasn’t come from a well-educated adult (who doesn’t swear) has sounded immature, and often rude.

How to rant politely; some things I’ve learned from experience.

must at no time raise your voice

passionate about your cause, not angry

the victim of your ranting what they have done to receive the rant, unless you’re just telling them because of your friendship

if you don’t feel like it, apologize afterward

sense. I know that this is the hard part, but if you need to wait until you cool off and email the rant, do your rant

’t insult someone during the course of your rant

’t swear, say things like “I am getting annoyed” instead of “I’m pissed off”

, don’t use slang that isn’t in the dictionary

’t get offended easily. We all have shortish attention spans, and many of us come from foreign countries where the customs are different. We may not even be using our first or second languages.

you are ranting because you have received flames or some other brainless criticism, ignore it. The people who do that are jerks who are trying to make you feel bad. It makes them feel smart to put others down.

’t rant about the stupidity of other people. The stupidity of doing a certain thing is fine however.

that there are many billions more people on this earth than just you

Always remember that if you want to sound intelligent steps 2, 5, 8, and 12 are of extreme importance.
