A/N: Yay! The next chapter! Sorry this took me SUCH a long time, I couldn't really think of anything to write, and I just haven't been in the mood. But I'm going to try writing now! Wh00t! Oh, and just wanted to let you all know, I'm about 99.9% sure about the names I want for girls (not telling what their going to be yet!) but I'm not sure about the boys names, I just haven't found the right ones yet. So thanks for all you suggestions, and please give some more boys names! Thanks. Now on with the chapter!!

Chapter 12

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

I dragged Joel outside, him protesting the entire time. I pushed him into the front seat of his car and I got in the passenger side seat.

“Scarlett,” he said once we were both inside the car and he was digging around inside his pocket for his keys, “could you please tell me why, after I came over and tell you I love you, I am driving us to your boyfriend's house, who also happens to be my friend? Because I would really like to know.” He started the car, and we were driving in the direction of Logan's house.

I giggled. “I told you why. Because I love you, silly.” I was suddenly giddy with excitement. I'd finally figured out what I needed to do, after the longest time of having no idea, and now I could be with Joel, who I did love, more than anything.

He rolled his eyes, but I could tell he was trying to suppress a grin upon hearing that I loved him. “I still have no idea what your talking about.”

“Well, I just now realized that I've loved you for a while now, but I didn't know what to do, because I'm with Logan, which was stupid of me to go to him in the first place. And-” But he cut me off.

“Well that was really my fault, you going to Logan I mean...” he said, blushing and running a hand through his hair.

“That doesn't matter now, it's okay. I already forgave you for that.” I said softly, grabbing the hand that was on its way to his hair again. He glanced over at our hands, mine holding his, and smiled. Then he intertwined our fingers, and put both of our hands on his lap. It was the simplest, sweetest thing I'd ever experienced. Just being with him like this, it was indescribable.

I cleared my throat, and tried to remember what I had been talking about. “Um... so...” I saw Joel laugh silently out of the corner of my eye, as I tried to think clearly. “What I was saying was, I realized today that I need to break up with Logan, because you're the one I really want to be with.” I couldn't believe I was admitting this to him after such a long time of feeling this way.

He just squeezed my hand reassuringly in response. We were silent for the rest of the ride to Logan's house. When we got there Joel turned to me, suddenly looking nervous.

“Um... what are you going to do? And what am I going to do?”

I took a deep breath and answered, “Well, I am going to go in there and break up with Logan, and I guess you'll just wait out here.” It sounded more like a question, because honestly, I didn't know what I was thinking when I brought Joel with me. How would Logan react when he found out I was breaking up with him for Joel? I didn't know yet but I guess I was about to find out.

Joel nodded and said, “Yeah that's probably best thing for me to do. And Scarlett?” He asked right as I was about to step out of his car. “Please be nice to him. He's still my friend.”

I smiled and nodded. “Of course I'll be nice, Joel.” Then I got out and started heading towards Logan's front door. I noticed there was another car parked in front of his house. I wondered who's it was.

I got to the door and rang the door bell. Suddenly I was extremely nervous. What if he took it badly? What if he hated Joel forever? I never wanted to get in the way of their friendship. I'd already done that enough with Joel and Landon, now with Joel and Logan? I really didn't want to do this to them. But I desperately wanted... no needed to be with Joel. He was my everything now. So I held my head high as the door opened.

Expecting to see Logan or his parents, I was shocked to see a girl from my school that I kind of knew. Her name was Corinne. She was in my homeroom and English class. I hardly talked to her, but I've known her since we were little. What shocked me even more was what she was wearing. A t-shirt that was way to big for her and a pair of boxers under the shirt.

She seemed just as shocked to see me. “Oh, Scarlett.” She looked kind of scared as well.

“Corinne, is it Scott?” I heard Logan call from somewhere in the house.

“Um... no, it's not...” She didn't just look scared, she sounded it now.

“Who is it?” He asked, walking up to the door in nothing but a pair of boxers. “Oh.” He had finally seen me. “Scarlett, hi...” he said awkwardly. “I thought you were Scott...”

I crossed my arms, and glared at him. “Obviously.” I knew what was going on. It all made sense to me now. Why Logan was so cool about everything, the pregnancy, finding out Joel was the father, why he would never talk to me about anything. It just finally all made sense. He was cheating on me.

“Scarlett... I can-”

“I don't want to hear your crap.” I snapped at him. “I just want to know how long.”

Logan looked down at his bare feet, not able to look me in the eyes. Corrine looked out of place there, not sure what to do with herself. But she was part of this too, so I turned to her and said, “Okay, if he isn't man enough to tell me, then you tell me.”

After a minute, she said, “About two months now.”

That was like a slap in the face. “Two whole months?” Even though I didn't like Logan anymore, it hurt a lot. Just the fact that he had done this hurt a whole lot.

“What was I supposed to do, Scarlett?” Logan finally said. “You're pregnant, for crying out loud! And by Joel. Supposedly my best friend.”

“That happened before we got together.” I said bitterly.

“Yeah, maybe. But you never did stop liking him.” He snapped back, finally looking up at me. “And I knew that. So I didn't know what to do, because I really like you, but you don't like me.”

It was my turn to look at my feet. “I did like you, Logan. And I tried so hard to like you more than Joel. I was really trying. You could have come talk to me, instead of cheating on me. There's just no excuse for that.”

“I know, and I'm sorry.” He said. “Please, lets just start over. And I'll talk to you about what I'm feeling this time, I promise.”

I shook my head. “I can't. That's sort of why I came over here... to break up with you. And even if I hadn't been breaking up with you, this is unforgivable.”

“You're breaking up with me?” He sounded choked up when he said that. “But why?”

“I'm sort of with Joel now.” I said.

“Is this to get back at me? I said I was sorry.” He sounded desperate.

“Too late.” I said, and turned around to walk away. Finally I was ready to start crying, but Joel was there, so I had to hold back just a little longer.

“What's going on?” He asked, wrapping his arm around my shoulders when he saw my face. Then he looked up at Logan and Corinne. And it clicked in his mind.

“Joel, I-” Logan started.

“Logan, what the fuck? How could you do this to her?” Joel yelled.

“How could you do this to me? I really liked her, and you get her pregnant and then try to steal her from me?”

“Logan, just shut up. He never tried to steal me from you. He was always just my friend, because I was with you. He never did anything. Okay? So... just have fun with your little whore.” And with that I grabbed Joel and started dragging him back towards the car.

“But, Scarlett, I'm not done with him yet!” Joel said trying to get out of my death grip to hit Logan or something like that.

“Forget about it, Joel, he's not worth it.” I said. And finally I was crying. And Joel was there for me. and that was all I needed.

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Joel had driven me home, and we were up in my room together. My mom had gone out again, and no one else was home yet. I had finished crying, figuring it wasn't worth it. I didn't like Logan anymore anyway, and now I could be with Joel, which was what I really wanted. I had nothing to cry about. Besides it was probably making Joel feel like crap, which I didn't want. But I couldn't help it, I was just a little over emotional.

“I'm sorry.” I said to Joel after a while. We were both in my bed, lying down next to each other, my head on his shoulder. I was actually quite surprised we could both fit on my bed, especially with my massive stomach.

Joel kissed me lightly. “For what? You have nothing to be sorry for. He was a jackass to you.”

I sat up slightly. “Yeah, but now it seems like I actually care about him, when really I only care about you.”

Joel smiled slightly and said, “I know you don't like him, and I get that he hurt you. Even if you don't like him, it still hurts. Don't worry about me. I get it completely.”

“You're too perfect.” I said, lying back down.

He laughed. “I hope that's a good thing.”

Then there was a knock on my bedroom door, and the door opened and Kirby walked in. As soon as she saw us, a huge grin slowly formed on her face. “Oh... my god!”

I looked at her confused. “How did you get in the house?” I asked.

“Landon let me in! But oh, my god!” She repeated.

“Wait, Landon's here?” Joel asked.

Kirby nodded and then said, “When did this happen?”

I blushed slightly. “Um... about an hour ago. I have a LOT to tell you.” I said, once again feeling the hurt from finding out about Logan's little secret.

Joel whispered in my ear. “Do you want me to go, so you can talk to her?”

I grabbed his hand desperately so he wouldn't leave. “No, please stay. I need you.”

He chuckled and said, “Okay...”

“Um... could someone please explain to me what's going on?” Kirby shouted, excitedly.

“Okay, what are you yelling about now Kirby?” I heard my brother's voice say from outside my room. He sounded slightly annoyed, probably thinking that he was going to be in even more trouble with her. They had still been getting into fights about everything that was going on between Joel and me. But the second he walked into my room, and saw Joel and me together, he shut up, and stared. “Are you two...”

I nodded as Joel said, “Yup.”

Then Landon turned to Kirby and said, “So does this mean we can stop fighting now?”

She looked slightly confused as she said, “Um... yeah I guess so...”

Then he grinned, and said, “Then I can finally do what I should have done months ago.” And he grabbed Kirby and kissed her.

My mouth fell open. Go Landon! Kirby just stood there in shock for a minute, until she slowly wrapped her arms around my brothers neck. He pulled her closer to him by wrapping his arms around her waist. I turned to look at Joel, who was smirking. I still had my mouth open, so I quickly closed it. We just smiled at each other.

“Finally.” Both Joel and I said at the same time. This seemed to make Kirby and Landon realized that they were still with Joel and me because they pulled apart. Landon looked completely content and proud of himself, and Kirby looked so unbelievably happy, but also shocked, like she couldn't believe what had just happened. I was extremely happy for my brother and my best friend.

“Um...” Kirby said, running a hand through her hair, nervously, “Well... I think you two,” she pointed to Joel and I, “Have some explaining to do.”

“Yeah,” Landon said, while putting his arm around Kirby's shoulders. She smiled as he did this. “You two better start talking.”

I turned to Joel, and he nodded, understanding that I didn't want to talk about it myself. So he started and told them the whole story, starting from when he had come over to tell me he loved me to, and to leaving Logan's house and coming back here.

Landon looked like he could kill someone. “He did WHAT?!”

“Landon, please calm down. It's really okay. Sure I never want to talk to him again, but you can do whatever you want.”

“Oh, well I know I'm never talking to him again.” Joel said.

“Me too.” Said Landon.

I rolled my eyes, “Whatever.” But secretly I was glad they both never wanted to see him again, because that made it a lot easier on me.

“I'm so sorry he did that, Scarlett.” Kirby said.

I tried to shrug it off, but I was still a little upset about everything. “It's okay, but thanks.” I said.

Then my bedroom door opened and in walked my mom. She stopped for a moment, taking in the picture in front of her. Joel and I lying on my bed together, and Landon and Kirby, his arm around her shoulders and her arm around his waist, leaning into him.

My mom smiled lightly and said, “Well, it looks like a lot's changed since I left. Oh, and Joel, you might not want to be in that exact place and position at the moment.” All four of us looked at my mother, obviously confused. But she explained, “My husband is home, and you might not want to be caught lying in a bed with my daughter. He knows.”

Joel immediately jumped out of the bed, and started straightening his clothes, like he was trying to make himself look more presentable. It was cute, really. And he had perfect timing, because at that moment, my father walked in the room.

“What's going on here?” He asked, looking a little pissed off when he saw Joel was in my room.

But before he could say anything else, my mother put a hand on his arm and said, “Well, it looks like Landon and Kirby are together now, and so are Scarlett and Joel.”

He didn't seem to care much about the whole Kirby and Landon thing, he just looked back and forth between me and Joel. Finally, after what felt like forever, he said to me, “This is what you want? After... everything?”

I sat up so I was sitting on my bed. “Yes, daddy, this is what I want. He's what I want.”

Then he turned to Joel and said. “Well? What do you have to say for yourself?”

Joel took a deep breath, then said, confidently, “Well, I'm sorry for everything that has happened. We both made a mistake, and I take full responsibility for my action. But what it comes down to is I love your daughter, and I will always be there for her, no matter what. And I will always be there for our children. I swear that I will be. And if I ever break this promise, you have the right to do whatever you feel is appropriate to me. But I'm one hundred percent sure it will never come to that, because I love Scarlett, and our babies, and I want to help them in any way I can.”

I was almost crying again when he said all of this. I knew he would always be there for me, but just hearing it, it was amazing hearing him say all of that. And I knew he meant every word.

Everyone was silent as we waited to see how my dad would react to what Joel had said. Finally though, he stuck out his hand for Joel to shake. I grinned as Joel took his hand and then had a very friendly hand shake. “You're damn right you're gonna be there for Scarlett and these kids. You better be.”

“I promise, sir.” He said, be he was smiling a little, too.

“Let me just say, even thought I obviously wish none of this had ever happened, I'm glad it's you and not some random person who would just walk away and leave Scarlett to deal with this on her own.” My dad said. This made me smile. That was basically my dad's way of saying he was okay with us being together. And even though I wasn't exactly looking for his permission, it was nice to hear that he was okay with it.

Joel just nodded, and sat down on my bed next to me. And with that my parents left my room. It was awkward for a moment between Kirby, Landon, Joel and me.

Then Kirby turned to Landon and said, “Um... Landon, can we, um... go talk about... whatever, you know. Just, can we talk?” I could tell she was nervous.

He nodded and said, “Yeah, sure. Let's go.” And together they, too, left my room.

I lied down on my bed again, and Joel also lied down next to me.

“Well, today was a very interesting day, was it not?” I said, and yawned. I was suddenly extremely tired, and I was ready to fall asleep.

Joel nodded. “Yup, very interesting. Are you tired?”

“Yeah.” I said, yawning again. “But keep talking, I just want to talk to you until I fall asleep.”

“Well, what do you want me to talk about?” He asked.

I thought about it for a moment, then realized what I really wanted to ask him about. “Names.” I said suddenly a little more awake.

“Names?” He asked. “Like for the babies?” And he smiled.

I nodded. “Yup. I've been wanting to ask you for the longest time what your opinion on names is. So tell me, what are your ideas? Cause I've got a few too.”

So Joel and I continued to discuss baby names for the next hour or so. I was so happy to be able to talk to him like this. But finally, I got too tired to talk any more. So I closed my eyes, ready to fall asleep. And the last thing I remember was feeling Joel kiss me on the forehead and whisper. “I love you, Scarlett.”
